Position Type: Support Staff/Educational AssistantDate Posted: 6/20/2025Location: Greene County Educational Service CenterDate Available: August 2025District: Greene County Educational Service CenterTitle: Intensive Needs Classroom Educational Assistant 1:1 Reports to: Director/Designee Employment Status: 7 hours per day (depending on assignment/program) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt General Description: Assistant will work primarily with the specific student as the contract indicates. This Assistant may be assigned differently if/when that student is absent, or if the needs of the program dictate a change as determined by the Director of the program. General Description: Works with students and staff in an effort to provide them with the academic, vocational, daily living skills, and physical supports and management needed to gain full benefit from the building's programming. Assists in the preparation of activities and materials, monitors and documents student's behavior. Uses TEACCH strategies and methodologies aligned with ASD to minimize aggression, and maximize safe successful learning outcomes. Qualifications: High School diploma (Minimum) ODE Educational Aide Permit Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI) Training (Must be updated as prescribed by GCESC.) Excellent attendance record Ability to be patient and compassionate when working with students with special needs who display emotional or behavioral issues Ability to be flexible is necessary Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all records and issues on students Experience working with students who are at-risk and/or have Emotional Disturbance and/or Behavior Issues, preferred Essential Functions: Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Observes Teacher teaching lessons, then works with students to reinforce what the teacher has taught, as directed by the teacher. Work with small groups, or individuals to reinforce material introduced by the teacher. Establishes a supportive and professional relationship with students. Participates in physical education activities, recreational activities, and addresses daily living tasks with students and teacher. Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance. Escorts students to appropriate classes/other areas, and remains with student -modeling appropriate behavior. Willingness to work with students who may show aggressive behavior, including but not limited to: hitting, biting, scratching, kicking, throwing objects, pinching, spitting, and/or shouting and crying Escorts student to the restroom and may assist with toileting issues as necessary May be asked to help in preparing materials for lessons or activities. Works cooperatively with building and program staff, and students Assists in non-instructional areas when asked such as lunch duty, restroom duty, bus duty, playground duty, ISS duty and/or other school related non-classroom duties as assigned. The teaching assistant may have the sole responsibility for a student or students when it is necessary for the teacher to leave the classroom, or when executing the student's learning plan outside of the classroom space Salary: Depending on experience/education For more information, please contract Amy Baldridge at Abaldridge@
