Job Description: Maintenance Mechanic Description of Position and Responsibilities:Assist with the installation and repair of bakery machineryAbility to use appropriate hand tools, power tools and electrical and electronic test equipment according to safety and OSHA guidelines. Comfortable in the use of PPEDiagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures to identify problems and develop a plan for repair or replacement; managing the project through correction of the problem, usually working on fairly short timelines, particularly when the problem impacts productionCoordinate the planned maintenance of all equipment in the plant to ensure operations are down as short a time as possible to ensure customer orders are metPerform the regular maintenance of specific components such as the Metal Detector in accordance with all regulatory and corporate policies and practicesOverall knowledge of maintenance processes and procedures and a good understanding of Company standards for efficient and effective maintenance standardsMay lead projects as needed; ability to work independently but supporting a team philosophy, with a coaching approach that gets the work doneRequired Skills and Abilities:Broad maintenance knowledge and experience, with expertise and passion in at least one of the following areas: Electrical, welding, mechanical, and/or PLCsProper usage of maintenance tools and equipment in order to be in a position to support the team and perform emergency repairs when neededThe ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, equipment manuals and the ability to train others on themEfficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, programmable controllers, robotics, and comfortable in the safe use of all power tools and equipmentUnderstand processes for diagnosing problems on the lines and able to develop a project plan to resolve issues efficiently and in keeping with regulatory requirementsFollow electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and project plansAbility to create, read and understand reports as well as the ability to break down technical issues into simple language for non-technical operators to understandExcellent attention to detail, ability to create information with accuracy and efficientlyDiplomacy, tact and a positive approach to problems is required in managing implementation of solutions, even for others who may or may not report to this position.Education in a trade or vocation environment or through an apprenticeship programMinimum of 2-5 years of comprehensive experience in a plant or industrial maintenanceHigh School Diploma or equivalentFamiliarity with computers and some exposure to diagramming and project management is helpfulExperience in a food processing environment is preferred but not requiredRequirements:Ability to move about regularly and stand or sit for extended periodsRegular need to reach bend, squat, and work in fairly confined spacesAble to climb ladders and crawl underneath the lines to diagnose problemsAbility to regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift 100 lbs.Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions and drawingsWill work primarily in the plant environment which is subject to extreme temperaturesEqual Opportunity EmployerIND1 Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
