Job DescriptionHeavy Equipment Maintenance Lead / Supervisor Location: Multi-site (travel between yard locations required) About the Role We're looking for a hands-on Maintenance professional to take ownership of keeping our heavy equipment and yard machinery running safely and efficiently. This role supports multiple scrapyard locations, leading by example in the field and ensuring our equipment stays reliable for daily operations. You'll work alongside a team of skilled technicians, troubleshoot breakdowns, and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime. What You'll Do Perform and oversee maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on: Hydraulic systems and power units, Excavators, loaders, backhoes, and forklifts o Balers, shears, shredders, and other processing machinery. Motors, air systems, and electrical components Lead and support a small traveling maintenance team, setting priorities and jumping in on critical repairs. Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment life. Coordinate emergency repair response and work with operations to keep production moving. Track maintenance work orders, parts, and equipment history. Promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and accountability in all yard environments. Collaborate with leadership on equipment needs, budgeting, and vendor relationships. What We're Looking For Hands-on experience maintaining heavy equipment or industrial machinery (scrap/recycling, construction, fleet, or manufacturing backgrounds all considered). Solid understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting. Natural leadership skills - whether as a lead, senior tech, or supervisor - with a willingness to mentor others. Comfortable traveling between multiple locations. Strong problem-solver with an eye for safety and continuous improvement. Nice to Have Certifications in hydraulics, welding, or heavy equipment repair. Experience in scrapyard or recycling operations. Familiarity with CMMS software. Physical Demands Able to work in outdoor/industrial environments with noise, dust, and weather changes. Comfortable with lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, bending, and standing for long periods.
