Please visit our website to learn more about our company, Underwater Construction About the RoleWe are seeking a full-time Marine Construction Estimator to join our team at our Essex, CT office. In this critical role, you will support project development by preparing accurate and timely cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, evaluating risks, and working closely with estimators, operations, and project managers. Your efforts will ensure all bids are both competitive and aligned with UCCs standards of excellence. Success in this role requires strong technical and analytical skills, as well as effective communication across teams. You will need to balance multiple priorities and contribute to a culture of collaboration. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering work that reflects both precision and professionalism. Ultimately, the successful candidate will be a trusted team player in driving projects forward, ensuring accuracy in cost planning, and contributing to the overall success of UCC. ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for marine front and underwater projects, develop takeoffs, and understand gross profit, profit marginsAnalyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine the scope of workCollaborate with other estimators, project managers, engineers, and field staff to gather data and insightsIdentify the scope and schedule of the entire project and develop scope descriptionsCoordinate with business development, estimating, contracts, operations, and engineering design groups as neededCommunicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetingsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering optionsAssist with bid proposals and client presentationsTrack industry pricing trends, materials, labor, and equipment costsSupport marine construction and diving pre-bid walkdowns in the field alongside estimators, project managers, the sales team, and other project staff from our Northeast and Mid-Atlantic officesQualificationsPrevious experience in estimating, preferably within marine, civil, or heavy construction5+ years proven experience in the marine construction fieldStrong understanding of construction methods, cost analysis, and project documentationKnowledge of public bidding and online bid submittal/events, including online bidding portals (Ariba, Power Advocate, Oracle, etc.)Proficiency with estimating software, MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.), and scheduling software (Primavera, Project, etc.)Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsBachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred), or equivalent experienceAbility to multitask and switch focus without losing sight of committed deadlinesMust be authorized to work in the United StatesWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package exceeding $100,000.00Starting salary at $80,000.00 annually plus performance bonusHealth and dental plan (employer-sponsored)401(k) with company match(after one year of service)Paid Time Off (PTO)Company-paid life insurance & disability coverageProfessional development and career growth opportunitiesA collaborative, safety-focused team environmentThe chance to work with a leader in the marine construction industryWork-life balanceLocationThis is a full-time, in-office position based in Essex, Connecticut.How to ApplyIf you are ready to bring your estimating expertise to a team that values precision, innovation, and safety, wed love to hear from you.
