Dynamic NYC Organization Seeks“General Manager”New Heights was founded in October 2005 as an independent non-profit organization in New York City. Our mission is “to educate and empower promising underserved youth to be leaders, champions and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.” We are located at the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Our facility includes three basketball courts, three classrooms, offices, tutoring rooms, and meeting spaces. New Heights provides intensive, long-term support for promising young athletes from underserved communities to develop the academic skills, leadership abilities and character traits necessary to succeed beyond sports. Through our new home and programming, we will be expanding our services to impact thousands of youth annually, primarily in grades 4-12, through our College Bound and Community programs that include:Travel basketball teams Academic support, tutoring, counseling and workshops focused on social-emotional learning and life skills High school preparation, guidance and placement services College preparation, guidance and placement services New Heights Summer Academy (an academic-athletic summer program) Community-based clinics, leagues, camps, workshops and eventsTheGeneral Managerwill report to the Chief Operating Officer and provide operational support for all areas of the New Heights facility, basketball and newly launched Ambassadors Program. Job functions include, but are not limited to, program and team scheduling and planning, coordinating program and team travel, facility management, and NHY’s Ambassadors Program. This position is based out of our office in Brooklyn, NY and is full-time but requires flexible hours including some evenings and weekends based on program scheduling. The first 90 days will be five days per week in the office, and then shift to a hybrid model, with a minimum of four days per week in the office.Primary ResponsibilitiesTeam Operations & Travel (15 hours per week)Assist in practice, league and tournament scheduling Assist in communications to NHY student-athletes and their families Coordinate and manage all aspects of program and team travel, including but not limited to, hotel arrangements, air travel, and ground transportation for camps, recruiting trips, practices, tournaments and leagues Assist with the coordination and management of equipment, gear, and apparel ordering and distribution Assist as needed with securing photographers and videographers for tournaments and other events Assist as needed with onboarding new coaches and part-time staffFacility Management (10 hours per week)Oversee required maintenance on facility equipment, and ensure the facility is clean and appropriately presentable for use Maintain effective communication with COO, Office Manager, property management team, other facility operators, external user groups, and the general public as needed Support COO with facility rentals and reservations with internal and external user groups Monitor all uses of facility ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed Coordinate with Office Manager to recruit, hire, and supervise part time, seasonal, and event on-court supervisors and support staffAmbassadors Program (15 hours per week)Source and coordinate donor opportunities in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and senior staff, ensuring alignment with New Heights’ mission and compliance protocols. Year 1 Goal: $180,000 in new revenue. Serve as the primary liaison across departments to support NIL-related initiatives, including student-athlete onboarding, data tracking, and workshop logistics Assist Education Manager in planning and executing educational workshops and trainings for ambassadors on branding, financial literacy, digital presence, and NCAA guidelines Maintain accurate records of ambassador engagement and compliance documentation Work with Communications Manager to gather media content from ambassadors and support storytelling aligned with program goals Coordinate operational and administrative support for the Ambassadors Program in collaboration with Development, Communications, and Programming teams.Qualifications/RequirementsPassion for the New Heights’ mission Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree a plus) in sports administration, sports management, general management or a related field Previous experience in intercollegiate team sport operations and/or facility management a plus Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and G Suite Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong oral and written communication skills Great customer service and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and execute and manage multiple projects Enthusiasm to engage and interact effectively with diverse audiencesSalary and BenefitsSalary compensation range depending on experience and qualifications: $70,000 to $80,000 annually Comprehensive benefits package including: (1) Insurance – Medical, Dental, Vision; (2) 401k with employer contribution; (3) 15 days PTO & 15 Paid Holidays, not including an organization-wide week off in the summerHow to ApplyPlease send a cover letter and resume to with the subject line: General Manager.
