Summary:As a Technical Program Manager in the Display and Optics team at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. You will lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and integrate cutting-edge optical components and display systems that enhance user experiences. Your responsibilities will include managing complex projects, collaborating with global partners, and driving innovation in optical lens design and manufacturing. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and extensive program management skills to deliver high-quality products that meet the evolving needs of our users.Required Skills:Hardware Technical Program Manager, VR Optics Responsibilities:Lead the development of optical components and module assemblies for VR HMD (Head-Mounted Display) system, focusing on specification, design, manufacturing, testing, process optimization, and integrationManage projects with suppliers and partners, from creating statements of work to driving final deliverables in collaboration with Operations, Business Development, Legal, and ProcurementEvaluate suppliers’ experience to meet product requirements, partner with the operations team to establish a robust and scalable supply chain strategyOperate at different levels of abstraction, from high-level strategic planning (System architecture, technology selection, organizational structure, commercial partnerships) to tactical project management (prioritization, schedule creation, milestone definition and execution, and deliverable management)Breakdown the complexity of technical programs to enable a clear understanding of scope and deliverables to a wider audience of team members and support functionsProactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to address them and manage riskIdentify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocksAct as the main channel of communication for key formal discussions and decisions involving technical team leader, support functions (Legal, Business Development, and Procurement) external partners, and other members of the organizationExpect to travel domestically and internationally, 4-6 times a year, primarily for supplier visits and build supportMinimum Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Optics, Physics, Materials science, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field5+ years as a technical program manager (or related role)Experience with program management methodologies like Agile, Phase-gate approach and tools like Smartsheets, Gantt chartsExperience leading and partnering with Asia-based vendors and contract manufacturersDemonstrated experience in cross-functional team communication, authoring and presenting documents, synthesizing information into the most salient points to move a team / initiative forwardPreferred Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications:Experience in optical components, ophthalmic lenses, lens manufacturing, optical coatings, optical test and metrologyExperience operating in medical devices or other highly regulated industriesExperience in navigating language differences when working with Asia-based vendors to enhance collaboration and communicationPublic Compensation:$134,000/year to $196,000/year + bonus + equity + benefitsIndustry: InternetEqual Opportunity:Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
