This candidate will be responsible for leading product development and implementation of our key, critical software ecosystem, which consists of several interacting software platforms and multiple business unit stakeholders. You will bring deep product ownership experience, process improvement skills, a strong background implementing Agile principles in a hybrid planning environment, good technical acumen, and a team-oriented approach as you drive priorities and strategic direction for our software products. This position will help to develop a team of product owners and business system analysts, implement and improve processes for software development, assist in defining standards for various artifacts, develop appropriate metrics for planning and monitoring execution, develop roadmaps for the ecosystem and its parts, and assist in resource forecasting.This is a hybrid work opportunity. At ES, this means working onsite at one of our offices a minimum of 1 day/week (currently Wednesdays) with flexibility for the remainder of the days. ES has offices in Oakland, CA, Orange, CA, Portland, OR, Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA. At this time, we are not accepting applications from candidates residing in the following states: Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wyoming.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Lead assessment of product opportunities and risks, including providing cost estimatesLead Agile process implementation and improvement in a hybrid planning environmentManage a complex backlog in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders, including building a standardized process for managing backlog and future work requestsLead product design: prepare well-documented functional specifications and workflows, guide product prototyping and proof of conceptsTranslate customer needs into actionable plans for engineering and design teams, owning features, end-to-end and prioritizing the product backlog to deliver maximum valueEstablish and maintain product roadmaps including platform health and customer initiativesMeet with business stakeholders to discuss application functionality related to enterprise-wide or specific program initiative due to contractual agreementsConduct or participate in meetings to identify requirements in how an application looks and feels to the end-user and provide feedback to clients to ensure technology application supports the internal/external customer needsOwn and refine user stories and epics in Jira – helping to translate product requirements into work that is actionable by the development teamMonitor progress of software development efforts to ensure business expectations for the product are being met and software engineering barriers are minimizedCommunicate status and results of product development efforts across the organizationLead efforts to define product metrics to optimize product effectivenessCoach other product owners and business systems analystsMinimum Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering degree, and 10+ years as a product owner – successfully delivering multiple products through a complete PDLC lifecycle10+ years working with software developers – understanding the process of effective delivery and release of softwareLeadership experience managing small teams of 3 – 5 junior product owners and BSAsGood technical analyst skills translating business needs into technical specificationsProven experience in working on data focused product development – good understanding of defining KPIs for product developmentStrong communication skills – especially adept at communicating effectively between non-technical users and software developersPublic facing software delivery experience is a plusCompensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience and the pay band is $107k - $140k annually.
