Azure AI Solution Architect

OverviewLocal only to Atlanta, GA or San Francisco, CA.The Senior Solutions Architect will primarily be responsible for architecting solutions for strategic initiatives and projects that combine new and existing applications, tools and technology to derive effective & efficient solutions that address the business problems/opportunities and align to enterprise policies and standards. This role focuses on Client's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Architecture to lead the architectural vision and implementation of AI initiatives. The Expert AI Solutions Architect will design scalable, secure, and performant AI solutions, prototype cutting-edge concepts, and guide their deployment.ResponsibilitiesDeeply embed with strategic healthcare customers, serving as their technical thought partner in ideating and directly developing novel full-stack applications on our platformLeverage software engineering expertise in Python, Microsoft Azure and related software to create initial prototypes and contribute durable product featuresProactively provide guidance to customers on maximizing business impact from their applications, accelerating time to valueForge and manage relationships with customers’ leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and scaleCollaborate with Virtusa internal and client teams to drive AI delivery toward exceeding customer expectationsDefine, design, and implement scalable, secure AI solutions leveraging Generative AI (LLMs, diffusion models), Agentic AI systems, and mature MLOps/LLMOps practicesArchitect and implement end-to-end AI workflows, including data ingestion, model orchestration, prompt engineering, deployment, and integration with enterprise systemsDevelop and code robust frameworks for evaluating AI models, defining metrics, test cases, and processes for accuracy, fairness, safety, and reliabilityLead CI/CD of AI models by developing automation scripts, configuring monitoring, versioning, governance, and scalable deployment pipelinesGuide data scientists and ML engineers to ensure adherence to architectural principles and AI best practicesTranslate complex healthcare challenges into actionable AI strategies and rapidly prototype solutionsStay ahead of AI trends by evaluating new technologies and conducting hands-on experiments and pilot projectsEstablish AI governance policies ensuring HIPAA, GDPR, ethical AI standards, model explainability, and internal security requirementsPartner with product managers, business analysts, and data engineers to define requirements, document and deliver AI solutions, and serve as primary technical expertMaintain clear architectural documentation with implementation detailsThis list is not all-inclusive; other duties may be assignedQualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, AI, ML, Data Science, or related quantitative field; Ph.D. is a plus7+ years of experience in software architecture and engineering, with at least 2 years specializing in AI/ML; healthcare/medical insurance experience is a plusExpert proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with cloud AI/ML services (Azure), including developing and deploying modelsDemonstrated ability to build and deploy Generative AI solutions (LLMs, diffusion models)Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, or similar, including custom agent developmentExpert knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps pipelines with tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure ML, or similar CI/CD platformsExperience with prompt engineering, large model attunement, and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus)Solid understanding of data privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA)Experience designing, developing, and integrating APIs for AI servicesStrong ownership, willingness to learn, and ability to drive success for team and customersExcellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesProven track record leading complex technical projects with multiple stakeholdersCollaborative mindset with empathy and willingness to help othersAbility to manage multiple projects with high pace and clear prioritizationAdaptability to dynamic environments and ambiguityLeadership and influence skills to guide cross-functional teamsHands-on experience delivering Microsoft’s AI and cloud solutions (AI Vision, AI, Doc Intelligence, Azure Health Data Services, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure APIs, Azure Confidential Computing, Azure Machine Learning & Synapse Analytics)LicensesMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solutions ArchitectAI/ML CertificationAbout Purple DriveCompany Description: Founded in 2007, Purple Drive started as a tech solutions firm and grew into a full-service consulting and talent partner, helping businesses navigate complex technology challenges and access top expertise.
