Great opportunity for a dynamic, skilled, and motivated coach to lead an established year-round swim team for the Wellmark YMCA.This position is responsible for planning, managing, and directing the swim team at the Wellmark YMCA and for ensuring the safety of participants while operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.This position will need to coach, lead and motivate athletes in practice groups and at meets, promoting improvement and addition, this full-time positions off-deck responsibilities will include administrative and operational tasks vital to team management, growth and culture.Position DetailsJOB LOCATION: Wellmark YMCAHOURS / DAYS SCHEDULE: 40 hour work week including early mornings, evenings and / or weekend hours to accommodate practice schedules and swim competitions.HOURLY RATE: $18.00-$20.00 / hour based on experience & qualificationsCLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: October 9, 2025 -Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.Essential FunctionsHire, supervise, train and direct assistant conjunction with supervisor, prepare season training plan / themes / focus and develop team events.Plan, write, schedule, and direct all team practices and meets.Maintain proper records, team lists, and reports as needed.Address member concerns by appointments and / or phone conversations.Relate to individual members on a professional basis at all times.Monitor and maintain equipment.Ensure safety of participants by enforcing policies and disciplinary rules.Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.Create an environment that welcomes all types of swimmers from varying levels and municate with the team and staff information regarding team activities, meets, goals and daily training plans.Develop and execute the practice plan.Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values. #J-18808-Ljbffr
