OverviewGeorge Schmitt & Co., Inc. is a security printing and converting company located in Guilford, CT. This is a full time position. We are seeking an experienced person to do building maintenance as part of the engineering team in our Guilford facility. This is a job shop type of environment with broad day-to-day assignments. The successful applicant must have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. The Maintenance Manager is an integral part of a small technical team in a job shop environment with broad day-to-day assignments including machinery, support equipment and facilities.ResponsibilitiesChange HVAC filters on all air handlersPatch minor roof leaksClean guttersClean loading dock guttersSnow/Ice cleanup from stairs and walkways when not performed by contractorJanitorial: cleanup water inside building from leaking roof, plumbing, drains, bathrooms, terior building maintenance (lighting, plumbing, floor repair, repair doors, gates, AC units, etc.)HVAC frontline assessmentClean window AC unitsWire brush & paint air handler housing & exterior ducting for presses, Shipping & Finishing Dept.Repair parts of the metal roof that is rustingSeal/caulk exterior window framesClean & paint AC condenser fan grillsClean & paint main building steam pipe to & from the ink shedClean & paint gas pipes on the roofRepair overhead doorRepair heater pipe for the electrical room (leaking)Cleanup building material from between north & south ground level air handlersHang and/or move lights (where electrical service already exists)Must climb ladderRetrieve material from offsite warehouse as neededUse forklift for facility support as neededMove machinery as neededMove pallet racking and other factory items as neededClean machinery as neededCheck boilersCheck air compressorAdd/replace air linesSupport production equipment & learn to troubleshoot as neededPerform basic machine maintenance assessment and limited PMAssist production department via nonproduction activitiesAssist in machinery repair as neededAssist in equipment rebuilding as neededMaintain safe machine shop working environmentQualifications/AttributesOrganizedStrong communicationAble to multitaskHighly motivatedTeam orientedWe are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.MF/DVCompany DescriptionIn 1874 at the age of twenty-three, George Schmitt began his namesake company as a stone lithographer in Brooklyn, New York.
