OverviewThe Creative Director is a visionary force behind Miami Dade College’s brand expression, leading a dynamic team of creative professionals and collaborating with top-tier agencies and vendors to deliver bold, compelling, and unforgettable campaigns. This position is responsible for elevating the College’s visual identity across every touchpoint—from enrollment campaigns and digital experiences to physical signage and out-of-home media. The Creative Director leverages emerging technologies and storytelling techniques to craft creative content that are accessible to all and communicates Miami Dade College’s bold vision. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.ResponsibilitiesLeads, inspires, and mentors a team of creative professionals to push boundaries and deliver exceptional, brand-elevating workProvides guidance and direction to ensure the highest quality of creative output and adherence to project timelines and objectivesFosters a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and professional growthLeads the ideation and execution of breakthrough brand and enrollment campaigns that captivate audiences and amplify the College’s voice across all platformsOversees the design and production of marketing materials, including print and digital to streaming, signage, and multimedia—ensuring each piece is visually stunning, strategically sound, and on-brandPartners with external agencies and vendors to ensure creative deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and budget requirementsEnsures all creative work is accessible to all and in compliance with ADA standardsEnsures consistency in design and messaging across all marketing channels and platformsStays abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to inform creative direction and innovationDevelops and maintains creative guidelines and standards to ensure brand consistency and integrity across all marketing materials and communicationsProvides guidance and training to internal stakeholders on brand identity, design principles, and best practicesOversees all work completed by the design team, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and professionalismConducts regular reviews and evaluations to assess performance and provide constructive feedback for improvementPerforms other related duties as assigned.QualificationsMaster’s degree from an accredited college/university in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, Communications, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in design, marketing, brand development, or a related field with a proven track record of success; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and nine (9) years of directly related experienceMust demonstrate a strong design and creative direction background with a portfolio of workKnowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresProven ability to motivate, engage and work collaboratively across teams and departmentsExperience and ability to work with creative staff and provide leadership and direction in a creative team environmentProven mentoring and team-building skills, including strong ability to provide clear creative direction and helpful feedbackExcellent creativity, graphic design and communication skills. Expertise and demonstrated ability in design fundamentalsProven understanding of brand architecture, brand identity and brand positioningAbility to translate communications strategies into engaging, authentic, and effective creative workKnowledge of current industry trends and techniques, including video production, user experience design, social media trends, and other digital communications approachesUnderstanding of marketing in print, electronic and online media and how each differs in executionDemonstrated written and oral skills; success in performing complex tasks; prioritizing multiple projects; investigating, analyzing information and drawing conclusionsProficiency in design software, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other relevant tools and Microsoft Office suiteExcellent presentation skills and communication abilities; capable of representing the department and its work to college leadershipExperience following and improving production processes across creative formats, including brand, print, editorial, digital, and video projectsAbility to meet deadlines and possesses extensive experience in leading and managing creative teams in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of Associated Press styleAbility to work flexible hours that can include weekends and eveningsAbility to travel to various campus locations as neededAbility to work with students, faculty, and staffEssential PositionThis function/position has been designated as essential.
