General Summary of Position Job Summary: MedStar Health is looking for an Environmental Services Aide OR Technician to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center! As an Environmental Services Aide I, you will be responsible for the appearance/cleanliness of MedStar Washington. Cleans public, staff, and outpatient areas. Primary Duties Performs cleaning and trash disposal of the perioperative and surrounding areas according to Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) guidelines, American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), and MedStar Washington Hospital Center policies and procedures. Cleans patient rooms, empties trash, wipes the bed and related furniture, cleans the bathroom, spot washes walls, mops floors, and stocks supplies. Indicates telephonically room availability. Performs terminal cleaning with use of UV machine in ORs, patient rooms and public areas. Uses preprogrammed electronic tablet for initiating timed UV cleaning cycles and data collection. Cleans beds used for patient transport to the OR and ensures cleaning to infection control standards, including stripping, cleaning mattresses and equipment, and remaking beds as required. Cleans other areas of nursing units and/or the public, medical, and office areas of MedStar Washington. Areas include nurses stations, conference rooms, bathrooms (staff and public), showers, storage rooms, offices, kitchens, hospital entrances, waiting areas, corridors, rest rooms, locker rooms, sleep rooms, examination rooms, treatment rooms, ERs, and more. Duties include trash, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing supplies, mopping, spot cleaning walls, vacuuming, and responding to STAT cleaning requests. Performs project work such as buffing, stripping and waxing floors; cleaning carpets; cleaning/removing mats; cleaning upholstery; washing windows; cleaning and re-hanging cubicle and window curtains; cleaning up paint residue; and moving equipment and supplies as needed. Stocks cleaning cart and/or supply closet(s). Reports deficiencies in patient rooms and throughout MedStar Washington to shift supervisor and/or management for action. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED At least 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement. 6 months of experience.
