OverviewPosition Title & Department: Director, JD Admissions & Enrollment Initiatives; School of Law. Department Description and University Description provided in the original posting.Detailed Description: The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Initiatives reports to the Asst. Dean, JD Admissions and Financial Aid. The Director is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions; overseeing JD student recruitment and pre-admission retention programs; designing and evaluating national digital and print marketing campaigns; establishing enrollment pipeline-to-law school programs targeting underrepresented communities; and compiling, analyzing, and reporting on prospective, admitted, and current student data. The Director manages ongoing enrollment advisement from application to matriculation and ensures timely and accurate communication with prospective students and admitted applicants. The Director collaborates with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and university offices to enhance the entering JD and JD transfer classes. The Director participates in admissions decision-making and will supervise (or independently modify) the planning of admitted applicant events. Frequent attendance at on- and off-campus events during and outside normal business hours is expected. Frequent travel is required.ResponsibilitiesProvide supervision and support to the JD Admissions teamAssist the Assistant Dean in overseeing day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions, including adherence to institutional policies, communications to applicants, tracking and reporting admissions metrics, and staff management.Coordinate internal cross-training and professional development for the admissions team.Supervise and support seminars, outreach, counseling efforts, and other admissions-based information sessions.Provide guidance to prospective law students through counseling and presentationsServe as the secondary contact for prospective students between Admissions and Financial Aid.Advise prospective students on the admissions process and general financial aid information.Serve as the primary contact for admitted students and waitlisted applicants between Admissions and Financial Aid.Guide admitted students through matriculation with counseling on programs, curriculum, employment outcomes, and financial aid resources.Coordinate admitted student contacts with current students, alumni, faculty, and other constituents as a secondary recruitment tool.Manage engaged data using UNITE, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing, Google Forms, Remo, and other platforms as needed.Collaborate with pre-law groups to schedule campus visits and presentations.Oversee ongoing professional development of staff in admissions advising.Participate in the review of law school applicationsEvaluate application files and render admissions decisions.Review committee files and make presumptive admit/deny decisions as assigned; may independently finalize decisions with guidance.Co-Chair the Character and Fitness Sub-Committee and make recommendations on C/F-qualifying the absence of the Assistant Dean, may make admission decisions and extend or modify scholarship offers.Supervise Campus Visit Days and eventsOversee admitted applicant retention events and the spring Campus Visit Days.Plan off-campus admitted applicant events in major feeder anize on-campus lunch events for admitted applicants and supervise the Student Ambassador Program.Manage strategic communication initiativesDesign and manage strategic communications plans targeting prospective and admitted students, strengthening national recruiting and advancing matriculation goals.Develop campaigns using data from UNITE and other online platforms; supervise recruitment publications and work with Communications for multimedia content.Develop and improve communications with prospective students related to admissions requirements, curriculum, and student experience.Develop annual recruitment schedulesCreate national fall recruitment schedules and identify feeder schools for fairs, panels, and visits.Develop West Coast spring recruitment scheduling around major feeder schools.Develop trip-specific budgets and monitor recruitment budgets; represent the law school at national events.Establish pipeline programs to underrepresented communities, including LSAC Discover Law campaign participation.Participate in data collection and analysisConduct analyses of applicant pools and prepare executive summaries on LSAT/GPA, financial aid, and demographics; assist with Board/ABA data gathering and reporting.Support financial aid data preparation, scholarship projections, and admissions-related data modeling.Perform administrative dutiesProvide leadership for the Office of Admissions, including planning, assessment, policy development, supervision, and staff management.Respond to communications, attend department, school, and university meetings, and stay current with admissions trends.Perform other duties as assigned.Special Conditions of EmploymentBackground check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.Degree Verification: Official transcripts required for degree verification.Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Advanced degree required. A Bachelor's degree plus one additional year of experience may substitute for an advanced degree.Minimum of five years’ admissions or higher education experience; four years plus a JD may substitute.Demonstrated knowledge of admission procedures.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel during peak recruitment periods.Preferred Qualifications:JD strongly preferred; law school experience strongly preferred.Performance Expectations – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to develop recruiting plans and marketing materials.Strong ability to prioritize, manage projects, and meet timelines with minimal supervision.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; handle confidential information with good judgment and customer service orientation.Exceptional communication skills, including writing and public speaking.Strong people skills; experience in staff training, supervision, and development; commitment to underrepresented termediate to advanced computer skills; experience with Word, Excel, Outlook; web content development preferred.Salary and BenefitsPosting Salary: $7,500.00 - $7,917.00 per month; Excellent BenefitsThe University of San Diego offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement contribution, and on-campus fitness centers.
