Job DetailsJob LocationNew Rochelle - New Rochelle, NYPosition TypePart TimeEducation LevelMasters DegreeSalary Range$3820.00 - $3820.00 SalaryTravel PercentageNo Travel RequiredJob ShiftAnyDescriptionThe Department of Media and Strategic Communication at Iona University is seeking dynamic adjunct professors to teach classes in the department for Fall 2025.While other openings could arise, we are mainly looking for those who could teach one of these classes:Media Writing (MSC 240)This foundational course required of all MSC majors is designed to develop students' skills in grammar, punctuation, AP style, and writing techniques across media contexts such as journalism, public relations, and strategic communication.Course Schedule:In-person classMeets two evenings per week during the Spring 2026 semesterResponsibilities:Teach and manage one section of MSC 240: Media WritingDeliver engaging lessons that help students grasp essential, but sometimes dry, material such as grammar and AP styleProvide feedback on assignments and quizzes with an emphasis on professional writing standardsFoster a supportive and interactive classroom environmentMaintain regular communication with students and the departmentSubmit grades and assessments in accordance with university policyMinimum Qualifications:Master's degree or higher, preferably in journalism, communication, media studies, English, or a related fieldPrevious teaching experience at the college level is preferred but not requiredPrevious experience working in a media field is preferred but not requiredFamiliarity with AP style and professional writing formatsExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsAbility to engage and inspire studentsBroadcast Journalism (MSC 330)This required Digital Media and Production course focuses on the journalistic processes of TV multimedia journalists, as well as radio journalism. Course Schedule:In-person classMeets two afternoons per week during the Spring 2026 semesterResponsibilities:Teach one section of MSC 330: Broadcast JournalismDevelop engaging lessons that introduce students to core broadcast journalismProvide timely feedback on assignments Integrate real-world examples, and industry practices into the courseMaintain regular communication with students and departmental facultySubmit grades and assessments per university deadlinesMinimum Qualifications:Master's degree or higher in journalism, communication, media studies, or a closely related fieldProfessional experience working in broadcast journalism is preferredExpertise with TV news story formatsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience teaching at the university level is preferred but not requiredAdvanced Editing (MSC 477)This Digital Media and Production elective covers advanced editing with a focus on Adobe After Affects and AI tools for post-production. Course Schedule:In-person classMeets one evening per week during the Spring 2026 semesterResponsibilities:Teach one section of MSC 477: Advanced EditingDevelop engaging lessons that introduce students to Adobe After Effects, AI tools, and other post-production toolsProvide timely feedback on assignmentsIntegrate real-world examples, and industry practices into the courseMaintain regular communication with students and departmental facultySubmit grades and assessments per university deadlinesMinimum Qualifications:Master's degree or higher in production, communication, media studies, or a closely related fieldProfessional experience working in post-production is preferredExpertise with Adobe After Effects, AI tools, and other post-production toolsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience teaching at the university level is preferred but not requiredSpecial Topic: Working With Influencers and Content Creators (MSC 499)This PR elective covers how marketing and PR professionals can work with influencers and content creators, with an in-depth study of these emerging fields.
