Sewing/Repair Specialist Turnout GearIndustrial Protection Services, LLCIndustrial Protection Services, LLC is seeking a Sewing/Repair Specialist to join our dedicated team. This vital role ensures that protective gear used by first responders is repaired, maintained, and kept to the highest safety standards. Youll work in our in-house sewing and repair room located at our Salem, NH office, which provides a positive and professional working environment.Position SummaryAs a Sewing/Repair Specialist, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining turnout gear and rescue garments in accordance with NFPA standards and customer requirements. Your attention to detail will help protect those who serve our communities. This role involves repairs, alterations, inspections, documentation, and equipment maintenance. You will also train under our current repair specialist until their planned retirement, ensuring a smooth transition into the lead role.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain commercial sewing and repair spect garments in compliance with NFPA and industry standards.Perform garment repairs (zippers, cuffs, pant legs, liners, pockets, hand and wrist guards, lettering, Velcro, patches, nameplates, etc.).Restore fire and rescue garments to standard condition, ensuring safety and usability.Identify additional needed repairs during inspections and document findings.The ability to follow reference guides and measurement books to ensure correct repair procedures.Maintain accurate records, repair notes, quotes, and job tickets.Take photos and notes of unusual repairs for reference and file municate effectively with IPS sales representatives and front-office staff.Assist with inventory management, ordering, and organization of fabrics, hardware, and supplies.Perform routine housekeeping and cleaning of the sewing area.Participate in weekly equipment maintenance (cleaning, oiling, sharpening tools, etc.).QualificationsExperience operating commercial sewing machines and repair equipment.Strong knowledge of sewing techniques and equipment maintenance.Ability to perform turnout gear repairs and alterations (experience preferred).Willingness to demonstrate sewing ability during the interview process.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Good communication and organizational skills.Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
