Technical ArchitectAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Technical Architect with a strong foundation in building systems, construction methodologies, and architectural detailing. Youll play a pivotal role in turning design concepts into fully resolved, constructible solutionsbalancing technical excellence with thoughtful design execution.As a leader in both documentation and collaboration, youll work closely with project managers and junior staff to guide projects through design development and construction documentation phases. This is a hands-on, technically focused role ideal for someone who enjoys being a problem solver, mentor, and detail-oriented architect. This role can expand into opportunities for project management depending on project opportunities and your skills and interests.What You BringThe successful candidate will have the following attributes:A can-do mindset with the curiosity and the self-motivation to seek out whatever knowledge and understanding stands between you and design solutionsA results-focused, efficient, and methodical approach to solving complex design challengesDeep knowledge of construction materials, assemblies, building systems and building scienceStrong understanding of Building Codes and the ability to document code complianceExcellent communication skills and the ability to get a diverse group of stakeholders aligned around solutionsProficiency in both 2D documentation and 3D (BIM) modeling workflows, and an interest in keeping up to date with current design toolsA keen design sensibility and ability to carry forward established design concepts with technical precisionWhat Youll DoLead design and technical development on a wide range of projectsfrom schematic design through construction documentsCollaborate with project managers or serve as either of a PM and a PA, depending on project scope and your skillsetMentor junior team members, including interior designers and architects, in technical problem-solvingProvide internal quality control reviews to ensure design intent, constructability, and code complianceDrive coordination across disciplines to resolve technical issues and achieve project goalsProduce and oversee detailed, high-quality documentation using both 2D drafting and 3D BIM modeling toolsQualificationsProfessional degree in Architecture (or equivalent experience as defined by the California Architects Board)8+ years of architectural design and documentation experienceCalifornia licensure preferredSalary Range: $95 $145K per year (dependent on your skillset, depth of knowledge, and level of experience)Why Join Us:At Hayes Group Architects, were a purpose-driven, design-led studio founded in 1996 with a focus on delivering innovative yet practical architectural solutions tailored to each clients unique needs.We pride ourselves on being intentionally small and agile, ensuring a personal yet scalable experience.
