Technical Designer -- Apparel (Los Angeles)

ROLE:TheTechnical Designer supports the seasonal design processfor The Great,by partnering with the Design, Product Development and Productionteams. The positionmanagestechnical designwith an emphasis on developmentforallcategories(knit,woven, denim),ensuringon-budget, on-time delivery of quality goods,reportingintotheDirector of Technical Design.RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategy & InnovationResearch and identify trends for fit and garment construction techniques; analyze competitorsFocus on the development technical design process, absorbing some production workload from the collection (specific categories will be based on skill sets and experience).Focus on emerging new categories for the Brand.Implementthe establishedstandards of The Greatssize and fit standards, grade rules and tolerances, construction and quality standards, standard pattern blocks and tech pack templates; carry out standard procedures for working with Design,Product Development, Production and vendorsOperations & ResultsManage development of technical design for category and ensure on-time execution of complete, vendor-ready technical specification packages; review all styles, fits, construction and specs as they relate to feasibility, costing and appropriateness for brand; coordinate among design andTechnical DesignDirectorto ensure fit consistencyacross seasons and categoriesWork within the establishedcalendarand milestonesfor development and productionSupportcategory fit sessions to ensure final fit, quality and construction meets standards; manage communications with vendors to set and ensure execution of standardsPartner with Production tocarryoutquality assurance protocols; manage problem solving as necessarySkills And RequirementsMinimum 5years experiencein technical design of apparel;flexibility between categories (knit/woven/denim/womens/mens/kids)Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, balance creativity with technical capability, and interpret design sketches for tech packsSuperior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulousExpert knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication andtrim;familiarity with print design and manufacturingBachelors DegreeExpert in Microsoft Office, Adobe products,PC orMac computers, familiarity with PLM systemsCreate and maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standardsSkills And RequirementsMinimum 5 years experience in technical design of apparel; flexibility between categories (knit/woven/denim/womens/ mens/kids)Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, balance creativity with technical capability, and interpret design sketches for tech packsSuperior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulousExpert knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with print design and manufacturingBachelors DegreeExpert in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, PC or Mac computers, familiarity with PLM systemsCreate and maintain a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standardsPhysical Capabilities:Visual acuitySit for extended periods of time in one positionAbility to stand and maintain mobility for long periods of time during a fit sessionAdditional Information:Job is Monday-Friday, on site primarily in Vernon, CA or Los Angeles, CACompetitive Salary, PTO & Benefit Plans
