This role goes beyond basic schedulingour ideal candidate brings hands-on surgery coordination experience, understands the nuances of insurance processes, and thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.You'll be the key liaison between patients, surgeons, and insurance providersensuring a seamless, supportive experience from pre-op to post-op.Key Responsibilities:Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures, including confirming details (date, time, location) and sharing pre-op/post-op instructions.Engage with patients directlyoften in the exam roomto schedule surgeries or initiate insurance authorization processes.Manage insurance pre-authorizations and appeals when necessary.Clearly communicate financial responsibilities, surgical timelines, and preparation requirements to patients.Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and insurance coordinators to secure all required documentation.Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR (we use ECW).Proactively update patients on any scheduling changes or insurance status.Deliver exceptional service while ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.What Makes This Role Unique:This is not an entry-level scheduling roleour scheduler is a critical part of the care team.You'll play a vital role in both patient care and backend coordination.Opportunities for growth within a fun, social, and supportive office culture.Must-Have Qualifications:2+ years of scheduling experience in a medical or healthcare settingSurgery scheduling experience is requiredStrong understanding of insurance authorization processesExcellent communication and organizational skillsNice-to-Have Experience:Experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) EMRFamiliarity with bariatrics or surgical specialties such as internal medicine, orthopedics, or plastic surgery (especially breast reconstruction)Background in appeals and navigating complex insurance processes
