Department Press Warehouse Stock About the Department The University of Chicago Press Distribution Center (CDC) is a state-of-the-art distribution and fulfillment operation, providing a full range of services to the University of Chicago Press and scholarly publishers worldwide. Located in the Historic Pullman District near 110th Langley, the CDC is conveniently located near the Metra and the Bishop Ford Freeway. The facility is two hundred seventy-three thousand square feet housing nearly twelve million books in inventory, and more than nineteen thousand units shipped daily. On-the-job training provided. Job Information Job Summary: The Warehouse Stock Clerk I (SCI) holds a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse operations. The SCI is responsible for regularly performing a variety of tasks including picking, packing, and shipping of books to customers and clients. Responsibilities: Accurately picking orders from warehouse shelves based on customer and client requests. Efficiently packing orders to ensure secure and safe shipping. Preparing shipping labels and documentation for outbound shipments. Collaborating closely with other warehouse staff to maintain an organized and efficient warehouse environment. Conducting regular inventory checks to ensure stock levels are accurate and current. Assisting with the receiving and unpacking of incoming shipments. Performing other warehouse duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations. Competencies: Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written skills required. Perform multiple concurrent tasks. Work with limited supervision. Additional Responsibilities Education, Experience, and Certifications: Experience: * Warehouse order fulfillment experience preferred. Technical Knowledge or Skills: Familiarity or previous experience with scan guns. Read and calculate simple mathematical problems required. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Warehouse environment. Exposure to moving machinery. High dust, dirt environment. High noise environment. Pay Range: * $17.26 - $18.40 per hour.
