Description A Brief Overview Supports physician office practice, or rehab clinic operations. What You Will Do Liaison between patient, physician, or physician office staff. Responsible for taking patient history, triage, and documentation. Design and educate patients on home exercise program protocols per the physician's request. Responsible for patient setup and education of in-office procedures, prepares and assists physician with in-office procedures. Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and DME education. Triage patient messages, phone calls and questions appropriately, whether it is resolving the issue within the scope of practice or utilizing physician, nurse, and ancillary staff as needed. Counsel patient regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes. Supports the Rehabilitation clinic operations to optimize patient throughput, as directed by Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist. Serves as a role model to staff, is formal/informal leader, strong skills and efficiency. Helps to develop and administer competencies to staff level athletic trainers. Mentor to other athletic trainers during onboarding to UH and within the clinical practice setting. Performs the role of Athletic Trainer - Outreach Staff if participating in offsite event coverage. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine or other related program (Required) Work Experience 5+ years experience as an ATC (Required) and specific experience with general principles of injury prevention and first aid (Required) Involvement in Professional Organization(s) - hold office, serve on a committee, participate in a professional activity at a local or national level. (Required) Advanced degree or specialty certification (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Physically and cognitively able to provide care and to be able to assist in moving people and/or equipment.
