Compliance Counsel (Detroit)

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Compliance Counsel to join the Legal & Compliance team. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the company's operations adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.Key Responsibilities Provide legal guidance on compliance matters across the organization, including manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and marketing. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to federal, state, and international regulations Conduct internal investigations into potential compliance violations and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, HR, Procurement, Quality Assurance) to assess compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies. Support training initiatives to promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct. Monitor regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on potential impacts to the business. Assist with audits and regulatory inspections, and manage responses to government inquiries. Draft and review compliance-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and contracts Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 5+ years of legal experience, with at least 2 years focused on compliance in a corporate or law firm setting Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
