Managing Director, Strategic Capital Management (U.S. Commercial Banking)Join to apply for the Managing Director, Strategic Capital Management (U.S. Commercial Banking) role at BMO U.S.Exciting opportunity!The ideal candidate will be forming a new dedicated centralized resource team focused on active portfolio exposure management. The team will work with LOBs and specialty partners to develop options to de-risk and reduce exposures to better manage risks and returns. Responsibilities include facilitating profitable growth, risk management, and enhanced return initiatives for the bank, analyzing portfolios, advising relationship managers on de-risking strategies, and ensuring compliance with documentation, reporting, and internal controls.Preferred experience in large corporate/commercial lending, syndications.Ability to analyze financial, business, and industry information independently to determine appropriate capital structures and credit solutions.High credibility with Risk, LOB, and credit product partners through quality analysis and effective communication.Efficiently drive actions and resources to achieve outcomes.Deep knowledge of the bank’s exposure management tools and programs to advise on de-risking strategies.Provide advice and make decisions aligned with enterprise objectives, serving as a knowledge resource.Proactively develop the bank’s capabilities in exposure management.Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture aligned with BMO’s values and promoting diversity and inclusion.Set goals, define outcomes, and ensure accountability.Build collaborative teams across functions to maximize stakeholder value.Attract, retain, and develop top talent, improving team performance.Contribute to the bank’s returns and risk management outcomes.Provide training and advice on de-risking options and borrower fit.Support successful syndication, sales, credit swaps, and other de-risking programs.Identify gaps and process improvements through internal and external communication.Collaborate on client solutions, sector growth, and timely delivery.Oversee documentation and monitor asset and client performance.Coordinate approvals on de-risking transactions across teams.Work with specialists to support syndication, sales, and other programs.Identify process gaps and best practices.Advise senior leaders on strategic decisions and initiatives.Develop expertise on business challenges and serve on committees as needed.Manage resources and lead strategic initiatives to meet business and financial goals.Define business requirements for analytics and reporting.Lead communication strategies to influence behaviors and ensure messaging consistency.Optimize resource allocation and ensure timely task completion.Gather data to support de-risking processes and complete documentation.Support sales teams with research and data gathering.Operate at an enterprise level as a senior specialist, influencing team collaboration and addressing complex problems.Foster internal and external networks, respond to trends, and implement changes.Qualifications:Typically 9+ years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree or -depth Credit Qualification and Portfolio Management knowledge.Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting preferred.CPA, MBA, or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, and business law.15+ years in financial services, especially in corporate lending and de-risking strategies.Formal credit training and lending dustry expert with technical leadership and innovation capabilities.Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, influence, and collaboration skills.Ability to manage ambiguity and make data-driven decisions.Salary: $164,400.00 - $285,600.00Pay Type: SalariedSalaries vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications, and may include incentives, bonuses, and benefits.
