Job Description

Overview The Tax Manager’s primary responsibility will be to assist in compliance, audit defense, and financial reporting for US direct and indirect taxes. This role is in the global tax operations function requiring direct interaction and coordination with key finance and operational leadership and business partners throughout the organization. Responsibilities Compliance - U.S., state, local, property and sales/use tax compliance; including planning, coordinating, gathering and preparation of necessary supporting schedules and data, and reviewing work product prepared by internal staff as well as outside co-sourcing service provider working on this compliance. Audit Defense - U.S., state, local, property and sales/use tax audits, including responding to information document requests, coordinating with internal personnel and outside advisers, making preliminary risk and exposure estimates, and formulating exam strategy to manage process as well as tax risks. Reporting - The U.S. and state income tax provision process, including the calculation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision and analysis and evaluation of tax positions under ASC 740, FAS 5, and other relevant regulatory and governmental provisions. Support global tax planning initiatives (development and implementation) and compliance requirements, including preparing E&P and foreign tax credit calculations. Special projects, as assigned. Annual travel requirement: 5% First-year deliverables: (These are accomplishments the new employee would need to successfully complete to receive a favorable review after 12 months.) Improve tax compliance/tax accounting system/process to be more effective, accurate, and efficient. Successfully complete the tax compliance and tax reporting processes and meet all deadlines. Minimize audit risk and effectively resolve any open tax audits or inquiries. Strengthen cross-department collaboration to ensure accurate data sharing and alignment on tax positions. Requirements 5 – 7 years of corporate tax experience, including a strong background in corporate tax compliance (consolidated return) and the system/process areas In-depth knowledge in domestic taxation, including US international provisions (GILTI, FDII, BEAT, withholding tax, and related compliance), state taxes, and US indirect taxes (excise tax, sales and use tax) In-depth knowledge in domestic indirect Experience managing IRS and state income and non-income tax audits Strong communication skills for interacting with a broad range of businesspeople within the organization Proficiency in tax software and financial systems (OneSource Tax Provision, HFM, SAP) Privacy Notice - Active Candidates: Aptiv is an equal employment opportunity employer.
