Extendicare and affiliated organizations, including our partner homes in Extendicare Assist, accommodate the needs of job applicants throughout its recruitment and selection processes upon request.QualificationsPost-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university.Working Knowledge of: Human Resources Management & Labour Relations, Complaint Resolution, Public Relations, Financial Management and Budgeting Principles, Long Term Care Industry, Applicable Contractual & Legislative Requirements, CQI Principles, Project Management Principles.Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; facilitation skills.Experience in a health care setting is required, preferably in long term care.ResponsibilitiesAssess residents' needs and develop programs to meet these needs.Achieve Resident Satisfaction Survey targets.Evaluate and improve recreation programs; facilitate various programs and events for residents; live our values.Grow and evaluate an active volunteer program to support residence needs.Collaborate with the Executive Director, residents and staff to develop engaging recreation programs that meet the needs of the residents.Manage staff and volunteers within approved budgets; facilitate and provide opportunities for meaningful recreational programs.Ensure policies, procedures, processes and systems are in place and being monitored.Cultivate resident autonomy, independence and advocacy, including Residents' rights and a culture of non-abuse; promote resident's council and attend meetings as required.Create a newsletter and recreation calendar to promote programs and engage residents.Time TypeFull timeJob Function & IndustryJob function: AdministrativeIndustries: Hospitals and Health Care #J-18808-Ljbffr
