Chief Estimator

OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, competitive bids and supporting company growth. The Chief Estimator will also establish and maintain standardized estimating practices and ensure estimating software and cost data are kept up to date.ResponsibilitiesReview bid invitations, plans, and specifications to determine scope, schedule, and requirements.Perform quantity take-offs and analyze construction documents for completeness.Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes.Conduct job site visits when necessary to evaluate conditions and potential cost impacts.Standards & ProcessesEstablish and maintain standardized estimating templates, procedures, and cost databases.Maintain and update estimating software to ensure accuracy of production rates and cost history.Track and organize historical project data for use in future bids.CoordinationCollaborate with project managers and field staff to ensure estimates align with actual production capabilities and constructability.Provide input during project handoff meetings to support accurate planning and execution.Advise management on project risks, pricing strategies, and bid competitiveness.ReportingMonitor bid opportunities and track outcomes, including win/loss ratios.Provide management with regular updates on estimating workload and market conditions.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).8+ years of estimating experience in civil construction, with a strong focus on earthwork and underground utilities.Hands-on experience preparing bids from start to -depth knowledge of civil construction methods and cost structures.Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.Seniority levelDirectorEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionAnalyst, Administrative, and ManagementIndustriesConstruction and Civil Engineering #J-18808-Ljbffr
