UT Health East Texas is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible emergency medicine physician to join our dynamic team at the UT Health North Campus in Tyler, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality emergency medical care in a certified Level IV trauma center, with the support and resources of a comprehensive health system. Benefits * Medical Insurance: paid by the university for employees, with discounted options available for family coverage * Life Insurance: coverage provided at no cost * ADA&D Insurance: coverage provided at no cost Retirement Plans * Optional Retirement Plan (403(b)): employer contributes 8.5% of annual salary (up to an annual limit); employee contributes 6.65% of annual salary (up to an annual limit) * Teachers Retirement System (401(a)): employer and employee each contribute 8.25% of annual salary (up to an annual limit) Professional Development * Professional development fund for CME, books, and professional associations * Reimbursement for Texas medical license registration * Fee-Exempt Status for DEA License * Smith County Medical Society/Texas Medical Association dues reimbursement * Medical liability coverage: comprehensive coverage with no tail policy needed Key Responsibilities * Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to a diverse patient population * Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, advanced practice clinicians, and specialists * Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record system for accurate and timely documentation * Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities Qualifications * MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school * Board-certified or board-eligible in emergency medicine (ABEM or ABOEM) * Active and unrestricted Texas medical license (or eligibility to obtain one) * DEA certification * Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently Facility Highlights * Certified Level IV trauma center by the state of Texas * Annual visits: 11,242, with a patient rate of 1.34 per hour * 24 hours of physician coverage with 12-hour shifts * Laboratory and imaging services on-site with advanced imaging available * 10 inpatient rooms, 2 trauma rooms, and an isolation room * Ability to transfer to nearby UT Health Tyler Level 1 trauma center, if needed * Total hospital beds: 130 About UT Health East Texas UT Health East Texas is a comprehensive health system comprised of 10 hospitals, more than 50 physician clinics, 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, 2 free-standing emergency centers, home health services covering 41 counties, and an EMS fleet of more than 45 ambulances and 4 helicopters.
