Position Summary The A&P Technician - Paint Operations & Composite Repair is responsible for supporting aircraft refinishing projects by performing airframe maintenance, structural repairs, and composite component work. This role combines traditional A&P responsibilities with specialized composite fabrication and repair and serves as the designated inspector for all finished paint jobs, ensuring every aircraft meets FAA standards and company quality requirements before return to service. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. * Perform airframe maintenance and structural repairs on aircraft undergoing paint and refinishing. * Inspect, repair, and fabricate composite components such as fairings, radomes, flight-control surfaces, and interior panels. * Remove, prep, and reinstall flight controls, panels, and other components to support paint operations. * Conduct final inspections of all completed paint work, verifying surface quality, color accuracy, masking integrity, and overall finish to release aircraft for service. * Coordinate with paint technicians to protect and mask critical structures, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. * Apply corrosion-prevention methods and sealants prior to paint application. * Document all maintenance and inspection actions per FAA regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements. * Maintain shop tooling, equipment, and composite repair supplies in a clean, organized, and calibrated state. * Adhere to all safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures. Skills & Knowledge * Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals (SRMs), and engineering drawings * Proficiency in composite fabrication, including damage assessment, surface preparation, bonding, and finishing * Strong understanding of corrosion control and paint-prep procedures * Skilled with precision measuring devices, torque equipment, and composite-specific tools * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Competencies * Microsoft Office Suites * Corridor * Familiar with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to complete and maintain records. * Scissor Lift Certified (Preferred) * Forklift Certified (Preferred) Work Environment: * Primarily based in hangars and outdoor industrial settings * Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, especially during travel or ramp work * Work performed in confined aircraft interiors and tight spaces * Frequent exposure to airborne particles, fumes, mechanical vibrations, and moving parts * High noise levels from aircraft machinery and jet engines, both inside and outside the hangar * Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind * Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed Physical Demands: * Must be able to see and hear clearly for equipment inspections and sound testing * Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English * Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in tight spaces * Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods * Requires manual dexterity and physical strength to operate tools and perform repairs * Must work at heights, including on ladders and scaffolding * Regularly required to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 75 pounds EEO statement flyExclusive does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sex stereotyping, gender identity, gender expression or transgender status), national origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, age, protected genetic information, status as a parent, marital status, political affiliation, or retaliation based on prior protected EEO activity. Qualifications Required Education and Experience * FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required * Qualification or company authorization as a Designated Inspector for final paint acceptance preferred * Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including structural and composite repair * Prior experience in an aircraft painting or refinishing environment preferred * Knowledge of composite lay-up, vacuum bagging, resin systems, and curing processes * Demonstrated ability to perform and document final aircraft paint inspections * Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States without Sponsorship. * Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
