This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career engineer (15 years experience) who wants to gain exposure to all aspects of public works infrastructure and underground utilities.About the CompanyThis contractor specializes in public works and underground construction, delivering projects such as:Water & sewer transmission pipelinesPump stationsWater & wastewater treatment facilitiesOther underground utility infrastructure for municipalities across the Chicago AreaWith a reputation for technical excellence and collaborative project delivery, they offer a career path that combines hands-on engineering with leadership development.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Project Manager in delivering projects on time and on budgetTrack progress, update schedules, and prepare project reportsReview and process submittals, shop drawings, and RFIsPerform geotechnical reviews and analysis (trench stability, shoring, dewatering, etc.) for underground utility workSupport quality control and testing requirementsPrepare and track change ordersReview contract documents and specifications to ensure complianceMaintain detailed project documentationOrder and track project materials, equipment, and suppliesCoordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveryInterface directly with municipal owners, inspectors, and agencies throughout the Chicagoland areaMaintain strong professional relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field teamsResolve conflicts and support effective problem-solving on-siteAttend progress meetings with municipalities and stakeholdersSupport job site safety programs and ensure OSHA complianceAssist with environmental and regulatory requirements related to public worksQualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field15 years of relevant experience (internships or full-time) in construction preferredStrong understanding of civil principles and interest in underground constructionExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to thrive in a public works contracting environment with multiple stakeholdersCompensation & BenefitsSalary $80,000 - $120,000Company vehicle + fuel card401(k) retirement planHealth & dental insuranceLong-term career growth opportunities with a respected contractor
