Join to apply for the MMIC Product and Application Engineer role at mmTron Inc. Position Summary We are looking for a MMIC product and application engineer with a solid background in bringing millimeter wave (mmWave) die and packaged products to production while supporting customer questions and evaluations. This position will work closely with design engineers to support the characterization and qualification of leading-edge products and then provide detailed technical support to enable our customers’ success. As part of a rapidly growing team, this role will report into the engineering organization at the director or vice president level and should be able to work independently and dependably to deliver on commitments. The working environment is fast-paced with a product focus on GaAs and GaN MMICs and packaged versions, which include power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, switches, and distributed wideband amplifiers. The role will allow for significant exposure to and mentoring from distinguished members of the technical staff, who are renowned experts in their fields. This is an outstanding environment for an experienced engineer to expand their skill set and capabilities in an engineering-focused company that encourages and supports career progression. Responsibilities Manage projects through validation, qualification, and release to production. Work directly with design engineering, test engineering, operations, and engineering management to ensure designs meet specifications, are robust, and have high yields and margins for volume manufacturing. Own datasheet generation and evaluation board sampling activities. Characterize devices over nominal conditions and specific customer conditions using PNA-X. Design, build, and test evaluation boards to meet customer demands. Work with the sales team and customers to support the successful evaluation of mmTron products, answer technical questions, and help resolve any technical issues. Qualifications Required Experience working with mmWave MMIC and packaged products: power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, gain blocks, variable gain amplifiers, distributed amplifiers, power detectors, mixers, attenuators, phase shifters, multipliers, low additive phase noise amplifiers, and VCOs. Solid working knowledge of GaAs and GaN MMIC product specifications and qualification requirements. Ability to define and manage mmWave PCB layouts and fabrication. Familiarity with thermal requirements and methods of thermal analysis. Knowledge of characterization equipment and techniques required to characterize mmWave products and a proven ability to characterize products hands-on in the lab. Ability to develop test plans and personally perform or manage technicians to execute characterization testing. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to concisely summarize highly technical concepts and work closely with customers to help solve technical issues. B.S. or M.S. and at least 5 years of relevant engineering work experience. Desired Experience Ability to create package bonding diagrams and manage contract package and evaluation board assembly. Experience managing a small group of product or application engineers. Experience working directly with leading external GaN and GaAs foundries. Understanding of and experience with SiGe and/or CMOS-based RFIC or MMIC characterization and qualification. Experience writing scripts to automate capturing data for characterization (utilizing the PNA-X). Well-versed in recent commercial communication signal standards and test characterization methods (e.g., 5G FR2).
