OverviewJOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Finance will set Goodwill Central Coast’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. This position leads financial administration, business planning, data intelligence and technology; and plays a critical role in driving operational efficiency and financial sustainability in support of the organization’s overall strategy. As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Finance will work closely with other division heads to modernize systems and maximize mission impact through data-informed decision making. This role will oversee the Finance and IT departments.ResponsibilitiesEssential DutiesStrategy: Partner with the President on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with Goodwill’s strategic plan.Engage the board finance committee around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery.Financial LeadershipLead the end-to-end management of Finance and Technology operations, ensuring alignment with the Agency’s mission, strategic goals, and compliance with state and federal financial regulations and standards.Report the financial status of the organization to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations for performance improvement.Monitor and forecast cash flow, rolling budgets, long-term forecasts and scenario planning to ensure fiscal resiliency.Oversee financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.Oversee budgeting, and the implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.Ensure that finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and monitor the use of all cooperation with the Controller, lead the annual audit process; and serve as the primary liaison with the Board Audit Committee.Conduct and manage annual review and renewal of property and casualty insurance policies, ensuring agency assets are properly insured and protected.Conduct financial analysis of proposed leases, contracts, existing operations activities and future ventures in accordance with strategic and business plans.Data Analytics & Decision SupportDesign and deploy business intelligence dashboards, predictive models, and financial analysis tools for real-time performance tracking and forecasting.Promote a data-driven culture across the organization by equipping leaders and teams with tools and training.Standardize reporting and leverage analytics to provide decision support on pricing, staffing, inventory, and resource allocation.Technology OversightDevelop and execute a Technology strategy to support all organizational needs with the goal of optimizing business use of technology while maintaining cyber security and compliance across the organization.Ensure security, uptime, and integrity of IT systems and data; and lead incident response and business continuity planning.Team ManagementDevelop and manage direct staff, to include directors in finance and IT; guide larger multidisciplinary teams outside of direct span of control.Engage other members of the senior management team to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all financial and IT solutions positively support Goodwill’s evolving strategy, operational delivery, data collection and decision-making needs.Other DutiesResponsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally either orally or in writing.Education/ExperienceMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any Combination Of Education Or Experience Providing The Required Skill And Knowledge For Successful Performance Would Qualify. Typical Qualifications Would Be Equivalent To:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA, MBA preferred.10 years in a senior leadership role, with a proven track record in financial management.Experience managing systems and budgets in multi-location businesses with complex budgets over $30MM.Experience with new system implementation and system administrator oversight.Knowledge And SkillsBroad knowledge of all phases of general accounting practices and principles, including budgeting, cost accounting and federal/state tax laws.Mastery of GAAP with FASB standards related to the Company’s status and operations. Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.Physical and EnvironmentalEMOTIONAL EFFORT: The job is high-demand, with many deadlines requiring little or no overtime. The work environment is semi-routine, with periods of high activity and many interruptions.JOB SETTING: The job is performed in an enclosed, climatically controlled office. It is completed independently and in cooperation with the Human Resources staff, other company personnel, and the public.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The job is primarily sedentary with walking and standing as is necessary to carry out the job duties. Normal lifting and/or carrying is limited to approximately 15 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Heavier items (26 lbs. or more) are moved by using proper material handling equipment, assistance from another person or by work order request. Normal or corrected talking, hearing and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks.
