Position SummaryBentley Systems is seeking an experienced Tax Director, State and Local Income Tax (SALT) to lead and oversee all aspects of state and local income tax and sales tax matters. The Tax Director will participate in all aspects of Bentley Systems U.S. SALT compliance, planning, financial reporting and controversy efforts. The Tax Director, SALT will partner closely with other members of the tax team, as well as the financial reporting and accounting teams, regarding tax compliance and tax accounting issues.This is a high impact role requiring strong technical expertise, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical guidance for stakeholders.Location: Hybrid Exton, PAResponsibilitiesReview state and local income tax filings, including extensions and estimated payments.Review annual reports, census, property tax and other miscellaneous filings with governmental authorities.Manage Bentley’s sales and use tax process and address sales tax questions requiring independent research of tax laws in various jurisdictions.Oversee Bentley’s Canadian GST/HST process, reviewing taxability and ensuring compliance.Handle audits for state, local, sales and use tax, and related matters.Address SALT-related adjustments related to US Federal income tax filings.Analyze U.S. taxable income and prepare tax adjustments for US corporate state and local income tax returns, and franchise tax returns.Prepare and/or review quarterly and year-end state tax provision calculations, including tax account reconciliations and roll forwards, and related journal entries.Continuously improve departmental methods for information gathering and analysis through internal and external Addition, This Role Also Offers An Opportunity ToAssist with the SALT aspects of acquisition due diligence, integrations, compliance, and restructurings.Support Tax Planning and Tax Research initiatives through research and preparation of statistics and financial reports regarding state and local planning, acquisitions, and audit defense strategies.QualificationsMinimum of ten years of tax experience in state income and local taxation of C-Corps with a public accounting firm and/or multinational corporation.Working knowledge of sales and use tax and other miscellaneous tax filings.Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field. An MS in Taxation or MBA and/or a CPA certification is a plus.Full-time role with an expected 40 hours per week.Requires communication with managers, peers and other colleagues in person or via Microsoft Teams.Hybrid schedule with presence at Bentley’s Global Headquarters in Exton, PA.Proficiency with computer systems; knowledge of tax software, Vertex (for sales & use tax), MS Office (Excel and Word).
