We are looking for an Executive Underwriter for our office in Houston, Texas for our property line of business.The Impact You Will HaveReporting to the Regional Property Leader – Southeast, this position will take prime responsibility for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Allianz Commercial Property targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority. You will negotiate price and terms and conditions, as well as develop and maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market Management. You will take ownership of large/key accounts and clients including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions.Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could IncludeUnderwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Allianz Commercial Property targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authorityNegotiate price and terms and conditionsTraining and development of team and referral point for senior underwritersDevelop and maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market ManagementOwnership of large / key accounts and clients including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditionsUnderwriting Strategy & LeadershipContribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for Allianz Commercial Property regionallyTraining, developing and coaching of experienced staff (including Senior Underwriters)Manage complex referrals from underwriters and spokes and re-underwrite complex business as appropriateDelegate work as appropriateUnderwrite Profitable businessUnderwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targetsNegotiate price and terms and conditions with producers. Proactively manage capacityUnderwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modeling and interpretation of scenarios. Underwrite International Insurance Programs (for relevant Allianz Commercial Propertys)Relationship ManagementPositively represent AGCS externally to the marketProactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. MMC, ARC, Claims, OperationsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)Policy Documentation and AdministrationEnsure accurate policy documentation issued to producers (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility)File maintenance – ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled. Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processesMarket ManagementProactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary)Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiativesSupport Key Business Initiatives/Misc.Participate / contribute to key projectsTraining and development of underwriters in Allianz Commercial Property, e.g. Associate Underwriters and UnderwritersReferral point for other underwritersParticipate in cross regional activities as required / requestedWhat You’ll Bring To The RoleProven track record in Underwriting profitable business in Allianz Commercial Property with greater than 7 years environmental experiencePreferably degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Mgmt, or Business AdministrationIn depth understanding of Property products and portfolioIn depth understanding of regional / local Allianz Commercial Property (s) insurance markets and competitor landscapeDemonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within local marketAbility to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Allianz Commercial PropertyAnalyze current performance against various benchmarks with a view to ensure adequate progress and satisfactory performanceApply the knowledge of how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needsAbility to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision makingThe annualized base pay range for this role is $116,221 - $175,586. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.
