OverviewDigital Associate Producer role at GBH. Hybrid staff may come in additional days as needed by their manager.Job OverviewGBH is looking for a talented Digital Associate Producer to support the production of a GBH News digital video series, Rooted. The Digital Associate Producer will help build the show’s presence on digital platforms and social media, contributing scripting, production, editing, and distribution for a YouTube-focused audience. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the role involves pitching, developing, shooting, editing, distributing segments, and developing ongoing segments into a recurring series on digital platforms.This position is ideal for a self-starter with a background in Journalism or digital video production, including executing original ideas under tight deadlines and collaborating with a team.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the production of digital video segments/series, including pre-production (finding guests/subjects, booking shoots, developing shot lists) and production (shooting, licensing/clearing video or stills).Assist with editing and post-production; see projects through to completion.Identify and secure potential guests; gather research for the host in advance; coordinate with talent and guests on show day.Upload and optimize series content for YouTube and produce vertical video stories for social media; assist with livestreaming.Manage and coordinate craft service for weekly guests, including stocking and ordering put show data into the PIM file management system.Qualifications / Skill SetExcellent attention to detail; ability to write, copy-edit, and proofread for tone, clarity, spelling, and grammar on air and in writing.Understanding of the production process for a show, including logging tapes, organizing shoots, and coordinating with a production team; ability to create shot lists, call sheets, and coordinate shoots and interviews.Ability to research stories and topics for weekly programming; experience with field and studio pieces.Cultural competency and sensitivity in dealing with diverse subjects and guests; ability to recognize and respect differences in beliefs, customs, and communication styles.Experience creating thumbnails; knowledge of Photoshop is preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with editing software (e.g., Premiere or Avid); familiarity with broadcast systems (iNews/Media Central is a plus).Experience working on live or taped television broadcasts; understanding of digital platforms.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to keep the production team informed of changes and important information.Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, or equivalent experience required.1–3 years of relevant video journalism experience.Experience using digital formats and social media platforms; ability to learn Sprout and CMS systems.Editorial experience: comfortable seeking a broad range of stories and topics related to Black, Indigenous, and people of color; strong news judgment and understanding of community issues.Familiarity with licensing and clearing videos and stills for broadcast and digital.Job SpecificsStaff position; Hybrid position.Location1 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135.
