Throughout its long and successful tenure, Design has gained a reputation for its sophisticated technical expertise as well as its responsiveness and commitment to the needs of its clients.The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships, overseeing permit expediting projects, and ensuring compliance with NYC building codes, zoning regulations, and agency requirements. This role involves coordinating with clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies to streamline the permitting process and deliver timely, compliant solutions.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, including developers, architects, contractors, and property owners.Lead the end-to-end coordination of external approvals, whether municipal permits or other regulatory agency reviews, by driving timely submissions, monitoring milestones, and clearing bottlenecks.Partner with internal technical teams (design, compliance, and project management) to confirm that project deliverables meet all applicable regulatory, contractual, and client standards, ranging from building codes and accessibility guidelines to industry-specific regulationsProvide regular updates to clients on project status, regulatory requirements, and corrective measures to avoid delays or violations.Monitor project and client activity through monthly reports and trigger internal reviews for inactive accounts or at-risk projects/accounts.Identify opportunities for account growth, including upselling additional services like code consulting, violation removal, and possibly special inspections.Prepare presentations, and reports to communicate project timelines, deliverables, and compliance strategies.Navigate complex regulatory environments, addressing issues like stop-work orders, plan rejections, or asbestos testing requirements.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, construction management, urban planning, architecture, or a related field preferred.Experience:2–5 years of experience in account management, client relations, or project management, preferably in construction, real estate, or permit expediting in NYC.Familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) processes, DOB NOW portal, and other agency workflows (e.g., DOT, Landmarks Preservation Commission).Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, or developers on construction or renovation projects is a plus.Technical Skills:Proficiency in CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot) for managing client relationships and tracking project progress.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reports, presentations, and data management.Understanding of NYC building codes, zoning regulations, ADA compliance, and energy conservation codes is highly desirable.Soft Skills:Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with clients and liaise with regulatory agencies.Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Problem-solving skills to address permitting challenges, such as plan rejections or violations.Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to anticipating client needs and regulatory hurdles.Additional Requirements:Ability to work on-site in NYC (e.g., Manhattan, Brooklyn) 2–3 days per week, with flexibility for client meetings or agency visits.Knowledge of the NYC construction landscape, including residential, commercial, and landmark projects, is a plus.Valid driver’s license or ability to travel within the five boroughs for client and agency meetings.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience as a permit expediter or familiarity with DOB filing processes (e.g., plan submissions, work permit approvals, sign-offs).Experience with construction project management or coordination with agencies like the Fire Department, DEP, or MTA.Certification or training in NYC building codes, zoning, or related pensation$65,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience, with potential for bonuses based on project outcomes or client retentionWork ArrangementHybrid work arrangement (2–3 days in-office in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with flexibility based on client and agency needs).Collaborative team environment with opportunities to work on high-profile projects, including new constructions, renovations, and landmark restorations.Why Join Us?Work with a leading expediting firm in NYC, streamlining complex permitting processes for impactful construction projects.Opportunity to build relationships with key stakeholders in the real estate and construction industries.Contribute to creating compliant, accessible, and sustainable spaces across NYC’s five boroughs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
