Holiday Inn Chelsea, a Colwen Hotels property, is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Chief Engineer to join our team. In this role you will lead the maintenance team in the day-to-day efforts of maintaining the hotel property. Ideal candidate will be well organized and possess working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and maintaining safety standards and requirements. The primary goal of this position is to ensure the hotel is safe and functional for our associates and guests.Colwen Hotels is a hospitality group built on hard work, character, and authenticity. With our continued growth and project pipeline, we are able to provide our associates with exciting career advancement growth and opportunities.General ResponsibilitiesOversee and participate in day-to-day operation/maintenance of assigned hotelTrouble shoot and repair malfunctions in electrical/mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other hotel equipment as neededOversee day to day activities of maintenance techniciansFollow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out, tag-out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)Supervise and schedule maintenance staffInterview, hire and train technicians I and IIParticipate in performance management activitiesConduct ongoing room preventative maintenance program (see maintenance manual for system specifics)Review maintenance problems, complaints and work orders to prioritize and schedule workTroubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning equipment and mechanical systemsInspect property to identify potential and current needsEstimate department expenditures for budget purposes and assist with capital budget processSolicit contractor bids and evaluate proposalsEnsure signed vendor agreement and Certificate of Insurance (COI) or in place prior to commencement of workCoordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulationsPerform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled and as-needed basisService hotel pool to include adjusting chemical levels and cleaning filters (not all inclusive)Complete maintenance logs as requiredMaintain building exterior not serviced by contractor (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting)Perform other duties as assignedRequirementsPrevious hotel engineering experience preferredStrong leader of peopleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of kitchen equipment/refrigeration preferredWorking knowledge of fire protection and life safety systemsReliable with the ability to multi-task and work under pressureStrong analytical and problem solving skills1-2 years of management experienceFamiliar with common computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office)Must be willing to work rotational work schedule, including weekends and holiday (odd hours)BenefitsMedical Insurance with Company-Funded HRADental InsuranceVision InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsWide-Array of Supplemental Insurance OfferingsPaid Time Off ProgramsEmployee Assistance Program401K Plan – Traditional & Roth Options with Employer MatchHotel Discount Travel Program for Associates & FamilyExclusive Associate Discounts – Travel, Entertainment, & RetailTraining and Development ProgramsCareer Advancement OpportunitiesColwen Hotels is an equal opportunity employer.
