Director for Student Success Programs & Initiatives The Director of Student Success Programs and Initiatives is responsible for the management of several initiatives and tools within the Office of Student Success and Retention (OSSR) including EAB Navigate, Starfish, student withdrawals, and parent & family engagement. This position will support and help supervise efforts across academic advising, summer bridge programs, summer orientation, and first-year course curriculum. Working in collaboration with internal data teams and the offices of Information Technology (IT) and Institutional Research (IR), the Director of Student Success Programs and Initiatives plans and coordinates retention efforts to reduce undergraduate student attrition and increase overall graduation rates, while leading efforts in student efficacy, academic success, and sense of belonging. Job Duties Provides leadership for the design and implementation of student success initiatives and program development across the first-year undergraduate experience. Reviews, develops, and maintains policies and procedures to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the university’s student success programs and initiatives. Leads efforts in the transition and onboarding process of students, faculty and staff from the Starfish academic advising platform to the utilization of EAB Navigate, while incorporating Degree Works and Civitas Schedule Planner to assist with the academic advising of all first-year students. Leads the division’s strategy to leverage EAB Metrics Mapping and Messaging in EAB Navigate to identify, contact, and monitor students in specific subgroups; using EAB Metrics Mapping reports and nudges as a standard component of the academic advising workflow every semester to include targeted email communications to various student sub-populations, with a focus on registration, retention and progression. Works with the Office of the Registrar to create comprehensive strategies around student withdrawals and changes of major, tracking student responses and limiting time to degree attainment. Coordinates the campus-wide Beyond Financial Aid (BFA) Campaign, and works closely with other enrollment services areas (Financial Aid, Bear Essentials, Center for Academic Success and Achievement) to provide a complete financial literacy program that can be monitored and assessed for effectiveness and continual improvement. Oversees the editing and publishing for OSSR online and print materials provided to all incoming freshmen/new students and their parents and families, including the creation of new content, where needed, and updating or current guides, brochures and digital information networks. Works with the AVP to identify opportunities to improve and enhance the office and division processes for undergraduate students, including academic advising, financial clearance, Drop List interventions, cohort completion, first-year course design, and ACCESS orientation. Assists the AVP for Student Success and Retention by attending campus-wide meetings, participating on university committees, attending conferences, and participating in retention and student success initiatives and activities. Supports the AVP in enrollment management reporting, data collection and analysis, including academic advising strategies, student academic record keeping, and graduation application processing. Provides guidance and supervision on the coordination and management of academic advising teams for first-year students across all university schools, colleges, undergraduate programs, and special student populations. Provides guidance and supervision and support to the OSSR Tyler Hall team, to include the Academic Improvement Mandate (AIM) and Academic Recovery Coordinator, the ACCESS Orientation Program and Alumni Mentoring Program (AMP) Coordinator, the Student Scholars and Strategic Partners Specialist, and the Financial Literacy Program and Graduation Cohort Coordinator. The Director of Student Success Programs and Initiatives will complete all other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Retention which may include, but are not limited to, support of the ACCESS Orientation Program, Commencement/Convocations, and other OSSR programs. The Director of Student Success Programs and Initiatives will provide all data and reports as requested by the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Retention. This position requires the ability to multi-task, to work well with others, and to function in varied campus environments, as requested by the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Retention. Minimum Qualifications EducationThe successful Candidate must have a Master’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university. ExperienceAt least five years of professional and/or higher education experience is required.
