Then you could be our next Corporate Counsel!As Corporate Counsel, you’ll handle a wide range of legal matters and advise on associated risks. You have some experience with the practice of law, whether in business, government, or a corporate environment, and you have an earnest desire to learn more about the energy industry. You enjoy working with others to provide creative solutions.ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, master service agreements and other vendor contracts, guarantees and letters of credit, contracts for the purchase and sale of natural gas, confidentiality agreements, and other legal documents.Consult with company management and specialized contributors to provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice on corporate law, the energy industry, and the company’s products and services.Establish and carry out best practices for the legal protection of intellectual property rights.Serve as liaison with external counsel on specialized matters and actual or potential litigation.Review, consult, research, and draft filings on bankruptcy cases and collections suits.Stay up to date with changes in laws and regulations that directly affect the business and industry.Provide legal research, consultation, support, and liaison with internal clients on ad hoc matters.Contribute to team projects to establish protective governance controls and mitigate legal risks.Assist with legal operations improvements, such as templates, playbooks, and training.Participate in employment matters, corporate investigations, and document retention.ExperienceActive member in good standing of a U.S. state bar (required), with Georgia Bar membership preferred.Approximately 2+ years of legal experience in corporate, transactional, regulatory, or comparable fields of law (experience in the energy industry, government, or military is a plus).Hands-on experience using generative AI tools for legal work (such as contract review or AI-assisted research and drafting), along with an understanding of related legal and ethical considerations. Informal or self-directed experience is acceptable. Proficiency with generative AI tools – and enthusiasm for their use – is a core requirement for this role.Preferred ExperienceKnowledge of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.Judgment, focus, and attention to detail in handling complex work and interpersonal interactions.Continuing interest in a legal generalist function and agility in learning and developing new skills.Ability to hold oneself and others accountable within a self-managed team.Location & Physical RequirementsHybrid: Remote + weekly HQ presence in Atlanta GAPhysical: Sitting for extended periods; ability to stand/walk in an office; ability to lift/carry up to 20 poundsCompensationPay range is commensurate with education, experience, specialized skills or certifications, etc. Pay Range: $96,182 - $113,156 USDOur Purpose and CultureAt Gas South, we aim to make a difference in people’s lives by helping customers save money, treating people with dignity and respect, supporting employees, and giving back to communities (5% of profits to support children in need).
