Hackley School is looking to hire a full-time Evening Maintenance Technician that will work 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday. Reporting directly to the Director of Buildings and Grounds,this position performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain a 24/7 campus facilities operation. Primary responsibilities for members of the Buildings & Grounds team include maintaining the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment for Hackley School as well as projects related to preserving and improving the appearance of the facilities and grounds, both on campus and at various properties owned by the School. It is expected that members of the Buildings & Grounds team work collaboratively with colleagues and outside contractors, use safe work practices, perform quality work, and clean up their work areas. The Evening Maintenance Technician will work collaboratively with two other evening Buildings & Grounds technicians, our Evening Security Guard, and the evening custodial team. Candidates must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and pass a motor vehicle record check. Candidates are also required to be fingerprinted and pass a state background check.Pay Rate:$20.00 - $24.00/hrSpecific Responsibilities Complete assigned work orders through the Campus Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Complete repair and maintenance projects on mechanical equipment as well as complete minor plumbing projects to address reported issues or as part of a campus improvement. Perform daily site inspections of the facilities and equipment to ensure proper operation. Complete basic electrical repairs as part of a campus improvement project or to address reported issues. Complete building repairs or improvements including installation of drywall, paint and wall covering, ceiling tile and grid; carpet, tile, and floor covering; as well as door and door hardware installation and repair. Provide support for various Hackley School events by assisting with completing furniture reconfigurations, furniture moves, office moves, and school set-ups as required or directed. Identifies the need for and assists in the scheduling, overseeing, and coordination of work performed by various outside contractors. During inclement weather, in collaboration with the rest of the Buildings & Grounds team, help with snow removal and treating of slippery conditions on campus. Function as a collaborative member of the Buildings & Grounds team, completing other work as needed and/or assigned.Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair of mechanical equipment in residential and commercial buildings. Knowledge of basic electrical systems, control systems, and basic plumbing. Ability to perform routine tasks without close supervision. Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics is essential. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to serve as an effective ambassador for Hackley School.Minimum Requirements High school diploma required, associate degree preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass the driving record review required by the School’s insurance carrier. Must be able to use a computer to document work in the work order management system, read and reply to email communication, and use the electronic payroll system. Must be able to operate, maneuver, and control the actions of a variety of tools and power equipment necessary to perform the specific responsibilities outlined in the job description. Must be able to work in environments with, at times, adverse conditions. Must be able to carry, lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds. Must be able to climb a ladder.
