Overview Join to apply for the Associate Counsel, California (Remote) role at GEICO. Base pay range $112,750.00/yr - $186,550.00/yr Responsibilities Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department. Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing as assigned. Qualifications 2-6+ years of experience in litigation on insurance/defense and/or personal injury (REQUIRED). Juris Doctor degree (REQUIRED). Admission to the California Bar (REQUIRED). Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in California and meet licensing requirements including mandatory CLE where applicable. Must be able to travel as required (to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences). Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner for customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization. Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information. Preferred Qualifications Civil litigation experience. Insurance defense-related litigation experience. Ability to communicate professionally in person, by telephone and in writing.
