As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, you will be part of a 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations, facilitating legitimate trade and travel, conducting inspections, and determining admissibility. Responsibilities Enforce Laws and Regulations: Ensure compliance with customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations to prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods. Facilitate Trade and Travel: Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel while preventing the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband. Conduct Inspections: Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances to determine their admissibility into the United States. Requirements Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen. Residency: Must have lived in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years. Age Limit: Must be referred before turning 40 (some exceptions apply for federal or veteran candidates). Salary and Overtime Pay: Eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay annually and promotion potential up to GS-12.
