Overview DATALAND is the world’s first Museum of AI Arts: a groundbreaking cultural destination where human creativity and machine intelligence merge to create breathtaking, multi-sensory experiences. Designed by Frank Gehry and powered by our proprietary Large Nature Model, DATALAND integrates data, light, sound, scent, and immersive environments at unprecedented scale. As we prepare to open our flagship location in Downtown Los Angeles, we are seeking a Head of Network to lead and manage the complex digital and physical infrastructure that brings our vision to life. This is not a traditional IT role: this is a chance to architect the beating heart of a museum where data itself becomes art. General Description The Head of Network will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the sophisticated systems that power DATALAND’s immersive installations. This includes managing large bespoke computer fleets, cutting-edge IT and AV networks, and supporting live, real-time environments with zero tolerance for downtime. We’re seeking someone with both deep technical expertise and a passion for creative technology, someone who thrives at the intersection of IT, AV, and art. Key Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 5+ years in IT or AV integration and installation, with priority placed on IT environments. Mindset: Comfortable working with cutting-edge, experimental technology and translating that into stable, reliable systems. High Availability: Proven experience with high availability architectures and mission-critical environments. Creative Technology: Background in supporting technology for art, theater, or immersive experiences is highly desired. Technical Expertise Computer Fleet Management: Manage complex Windows server fleets with unique hardware; apply Ansible playbook updates; access BIOS, update firmware, and configure system-level settings; troubleshoot and repair hardware; proficiency across Linux (command line) and macOS environments. IT Networks: Familiar with Juniper & Netgear hardware; strong firewall management. Media Fabric Networks: Hands-on with SDVoE, AES-67, AVB, QLAN, NDI, NTP/PTP; operate custom routing schemes; proficient with orchestration tools such as Dante Controller, NDI Tools, Aurora Multimedia IPBaseT Manager. Audiovisual Systems: Familiarity with QSC Q-SYS processors, L-Acoustics loudspeakers, video wall processors, LED walls; experience with projectors, lenses, auto-calibration/warping/blending systems; comfortable with 10-bit 4K UHD 60Hz video workflows. Advanced Troubleshooting: Skilled in logfile analysis and performance data interpretation; capable of network packet sniffing (Wireshark) and command-line switch programming; experienced in structured cable plant management (RJ45 category cable certification/troubleshooting, single mode fiber cleaning/maintenance/testing). Physical Requirements Able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work in catwalks or tight spaces. Why Join DATALAND?
