We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.The Fulfillment group, within the Marketplace at Lyft, is responsible for determining what inventory can be reliably offered for a given rider session and fulfilling rider requests. The group comprises several sub-teams that generate feasible offers for riders, match rider requests with drivers, and maintain a distributed state machine to track rides and drivers from request through completion.As a software engineer at Lyft, you will collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams, such as product, data science, and analytics, to lead and execute large projects—from concept to efficient execution. We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer who is passionate about solving challenging technical problems and excited to work in a fast-paced, innovative, and cross-functional environment. In this role, you will tackle some of the most interesting and impactful problems in ridesharing.Key traits for success include being passionate about Lyft’s business and product, a quick learner, a collaborative mindset, and an eagerness to drive initiatives both within and across teams. You’ll be joining a small, close-knit team with passionate, collaborative co-workers.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of the Fulfillment tech stackWrite well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable codeHave a good grasp and ability to explain the various trade offs made in decisionsParticipate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledgeLead projects from idea to positive executionProactively participate in resolving ongoing incidentsUnblock, support, effectively communicate, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve resultsShare your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practicesExperienceBS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience2+ years of software engineering industry experienceProficiency in object-oriented programmingExperience designing, debugging and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systemsExperience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)Proficiency in scripting languages to use APIs to automate manual processesExperience with common CI tools (Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, TeamCity), and proficiency in at least one of those toolsSolid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databasesAbility to communicate in English in writing, meetings and presentationsFulfillment owns services written in Golang and PythonBenefitsGreat medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolledMental health benefitsFamily building benefitsChild care and pet benefits401(k) plan to help save for your futureIn addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off18 weeks of paid parental leave. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
