OverviewElections GIS Mapping Analyst is a working title for Precinct Planning Specialist.The County of El Dorado is committed to promoting public service in a diverse and collaborative workplace. The Elections Department conducts elections and handles petition processing, precinct and district boundary maintenance, and polling place locations that are accessible to voters.The OpportunityJoin the Registrar of Voters team as an Elections GIS Mapping Analyst. You will help keep elections fair and accurate by maintaining precinct and district maps, updating the street guide, and processing annexations. If you are detail-oriented, enjoy working with maps and data, and want to make an impact in the democratic process, please apply.The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:Assist in the maintenance of boundary data on all voting jurisdictions in the County by legal descriptions and by maps.Assist in the consolidation of County precincts into voting precincts for each election.Assist in the revision of County precincts following district reapportionment by the Legislature.Assist in assigning addresses in newly developed or annexed areas to existing precincts or creating new precincts as appropriate.Assist in preparing detailed maps of precincts and district boundary changes, including submissions to the California State Senate, California State Assembly, and the California Secretary of State.Identify eligible voters in special districts where district boundaries are not within precinct lines.Coordinate and exchange information on consolidation and mapping activities with other divisions, districts, and the County.Assist the public, political candidates, and other agencies with inquiries concerning political boundaries and election demographic data.Research, interpret, and apply election and related codes and regulations as they relate to assignment.QualificationsEducation and Experience:A combination of the required experience, education, and training that provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying; however, education may not solely substitute for the required experience.Equivalent to graduation from high school; supplemented by 12 units of college-level coursework in geography, cartography, land surveying/planning, engineering, management information systems, or a related field; AND professional or volunteer experience operating an elections computer system in two public election cycles, or possession of a GIS certificate, or one year of experience performing GIS programming in an automated mapping environment.Click here to view the minimum qualifications for Elections GIS Mapping Analyst, as well as the physical, environmental, and working conditions.Submit Your ApplicationApply online by clicking the Apply link at the top of this announcement.
