OverviewTitle: Director Asphalt Paving DivisionLocation: Falmouth, MA (Cape Cod)Salary: $140 - $150K / + Profit Sharing PensionJob Type: Full-Time | ExemptBenefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), Pension and PTO.No sponsorship availableDirector of Civil EngineeringAs the Director, you play a critical leadership role in shaping the success of our field operations. Overseeing a team of 8–12 Superintendents, you provide both strategic direction and tactical oversight to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, and within budget. From preconstruction planning through project execution, you maintain a clear vision of the “big picture” while also paying attention to the technical details that drive project quality.You are the central decision-maker in the field, setting productivity expectations, providing real-time guidance, and resolving challenges that arise during construction. Your ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contract requirements allows you to develop accurate scopes of work, enforce project standards, and ensure compliance across all operations. Acting as the liaison between executive leadership, project managers, and field staff, you align people, processes, and resources to maximize efficiency while upholding safety and quality this high-visibility role, you will oversee the construction of public and private paving and civil projects—highways, roadways, sitework, and related infrastructure—ensuring the work is performed to the highest workmanship standards. You’ll review and analyze project documentation, subcontractor agreements, and material purchasing strategies while identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvement. By fostering collaboration across teams, you create a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of 8–12 Superintendents across multiple paving and civil projects.Ensure all projects are executed in accordance with plans, specifications, contract documents, and client expectations.Drive field operations strategy, including work planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and risk mitigation.Partner with project managers on budgeting, cost controls, and resource optimization to deliver projects efficiently.Oversee compliance with safety standards (OSHA, DOT, and internal requirements), reinforcing a culture of safety-first practices.Resolve issues that arise in the field with strong problem-solving skills and timely decision-making.Promote teamwork and effective communication across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).10+ years of progressive leadership experience in heavy civil construction, paving, or roadway projects.Proven track record of managing multiple Superintendents and large-scale field operations.Strong knowledge of paving and civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, contracts, and technical drawings.Familiarity with GPS survey equipment, construction layouts, and machine control systems.Demonstrated leadership, delegation, and mentoring skills.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).OSHA 30 certification, First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain).Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.Equal Opportunity Employer statement: Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
