Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.Summary: The Administrative Director reports to Associate Vice President of System Laboratory Services with a dotted line to the Medical Director, Rush Medical Laboratories (RML). The Administrative Director is responsible for the development, monitoring and leadership of the financial, marketing, information systems and client services policies and procedures of the clinical laboratory. The Administrative Director works closely with the Laboratory Medical Directors, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff to run the day to day operations of all RML laboratories under their direction. The Administrative Director reports to the the Associate Vice President of System Laboratory and works to implement the strategy for RML across multiple Laboratory locations.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent; Masters degree in Business and/or Healthcare Related Field required.Experience: A minimum of seven years in a laboratory management role.Personal: Must be well organized and have good interpersonal and communication skills.ResponsibilitiesOversee the financial aspects of the laboratory, including fiscal and flexible budget coordination and preparation; monitor and investigate monthly budget variances; prepare and report internal and peer comparison financial and performance indicators; maintain the charge description master; work closely with Finance to ensure proper billing, accounting, auditing, CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and protocols are followed.Prepare the operating and capital equipment budgets for Laboratory and Pathology Services using input from the Laboratory Manager and report on departmental activity, financial performance and quality improvement progress as required.Make team members aware of the center's budget, expenses, and utilization of resources and continuously work with the team to reduce expenses and improve quality.Perform feasibility studies and develop new programs.Approve purchased services and check requests and ensure adherence to budgeted levels.Minimize expenses through efficient purchasing, tight inventory controls and effective utilization of human resources and technology.Facilitate removal of obstacles and development of new systems to optimize resource utilization.Evaluate staffing, space and/or other resource needs within service areas; make recommendations to the administrative team and plan for allocation of resources accordingly.Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (CAP, JCAHO, IDPH, OSHA, etc.); maintain quality control programs/measures to ensure continuous improvement in plete an Occurrence Report for incidents outside of standard operating procedure and/or represent a deviation from the standard of care; promote a non-punitive reporting environment.Represent RML for the Rush System for Health Laboratory Committee; attend meetings and communicate progress/issues to the AVP and the Laboratory Medical Director; negotiate contracts with vendors as needed.Represent the Department of Pathology and Rush Medical Laboratories for the Rush Health Associates Contract Implementation Team; ensure smooth operation of testing, reporting and billing for contracts; work with team to establish package pricing for carve out services.Provide leadership to the Client Services area; meet with clients as needed; work with staff to ensure efficient and cost-effective service.Prepare marketing strategies and data in collaboration with the AVP for Laboratory Services.Provide leadership to the Laboratory Information System; ensure financial and billing functions operate correctly and stay current with information system technology.Be available to laboratory staff to receive information and address matters promptly; attend and participate in staff and management meetings regularly.Collaborate with the AVP, Medical Director, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff to develop, update and monitor long-range goals and objectives for the Department of Pathology and Rush Medical Laboratories.Participate in continuing education and in-service programs for staff as needed.Act as an instructor at Rush University; deliver formal management-related lectures to medical technology students and/or pathology residents; mentor and advise Health Systems Management students on projects.Represent the Department on ROPH, RUMC, RMH, RU, RSH or other committees, sub-committees or task forces as appropriate.Perform other duties as assigned by the AVP and Medical Laboratory Director.Be a role model for ICARE values and Rush's Mission Statement; advocate for the laboratories.Collaborate with other departments to ensure the best possible patient care.Familiar with Six Sigma and LEAN principles.Work with the management team and HR to lead Employee Engagement initiatives.Promote a Culture of Safety and Just Culture philosophies.Equal OpportunityRush is an equal opportunity employer.
