OverviewJohns Hopkins SAIS invites applications for an Adjunct Lecturer to teach in the online Master of Arts in Sustainable Energy program. This is a remote, part-time teaching opportunity beginning in Spring 2026, with preparation work starting late Fall 2025.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with an instructional designer from the Educational Design & Instructional Technology team to develop the online course: Sustainable Energy & Climate Change (separate contract provided).Engage students in a dynamic, interactive, and rigorous online learning environment using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and other technologies.Serve as the instructor of record for the newly developed course, at least two times over future terms, to include: develop and deliver engaging course content that meets the program's learning objectives and curriculum standards; facilitate online class discussions, respond to student inquiries, and actively participate in the virtual classroom to promote student success; maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and academic performance in the university's learning management system; hold virtual office hours to provide academic support as needed.Stay current with developments and advancements in the subject area and incorporate relevant trends into course content; complete SAIS online teaching training prior to course launch.Respond to requests and communications from students and university administrators in a timely manner (typically within 24–48 hours).Adhere to all university and SAIS policies and procedures regarding academic integrity, grading, and curriculum.QualificationsExperience: At least five years of deep and demonstrated expertise in energy transition and climate policy is essential.Prior teaching experience, especially with strong student evaluations, is highly preferred.
