Mold Technician***** Southington, CTPay ***** $29.00/hr***** Contract to permanent***** 6:45am to 3:15pm Monday to FridayJob DescriptionThe Mold Technician performs routine maintenance on plastic injection molds both in the press and on the bench under the direct supervision of a Lead Tech/ Sr. Mold Tech. This consists of disassembling, cleaning, organizing, and reassembling complex tooling.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance on plastic injection molds in the press and on the benchDisassemble, visually inspecting, cleaning, organizing, and reassembling complex high cavitation toolingEnsure all equipment is working properlyShop awareness and cleanlinessParticipate in activities to ensure departmental compliance to all Federal, State, Local and Company regulatory requirements. These elements include FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO, EEOC and Company policies relative to the manufacture of product, batch control requirements, documentation requirements, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, calibration, associate training and safety (equipment, associate and material).Work on special projects as they arise as directedActively demonstrating support through interactions with solid communication skills, attitude, dedication, commitment, respect, pride and trustAbility to troubleshootingBasic measurement techniques (micrometer, calipers, dial indicator)Complete shop paperwork and documentation using correct terminology (FA, tool workorder)Basic electrical understandingStoning/polishing mold componentsIntroduction to setting/timing unwindsMachining fabrication/repair/modify mold componentsRead/understand drawings 2D and 3D modelsUnderstand torque settingsUnderstanding between using Standard vs MetricKnowledge, Skills & QualificationsHaving a mechanical aptitudeKnowledge and understanding of basic shop tools and hand toolsBasic shop math skillsUnderstand mechanics and terminology of a mold and their functionsUnderstand mechanics and terminology of an injection molding machineUnderstanding of surface finish and how they are achievedAbility to read/understand 2D printsBasic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo systemsAbility to troubleshooting mechanical assembliesFamiliarity with machining equipment and operations is desired, but not requiredBasic understanding of Hot Runner systems is desired, but not requiredEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma requiredMinimum of 2 year of Tool Making or tool repair and maintenance experience desired, but not requiredHealth savings accountDental insuranceVision insuranceFlexible spending accountsLife insuranceRetirement planAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
