Our mission is to support our clients’ expanding utility and infrastructure requirements by positioning MGE as the leading provider of innovative construction solutions at the best value.Our Safety | Continuous Development | Respect | Integrity | Performance | Trust | FunHow You Can Make an ImpactAs the Field Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to the MGE Underground’s Civil Construction, Supervisors, Foremen and Crew Members. The Field Safety Specialist works to detect, prevent, and mitigate safety risks. Provides subject matter expertise on field observations and provides consultation and guidance on corrective actions. Communicates safety trends and recommends corrective actions. Serves as a resource for the development, implementation, and sustainability of company safety initiatives. This position may/will require travel up to 75%.How You Will ContributeInvestigate safety incidents that result in employee injury, work procedure error, and damage to company and third-party property.Assist in the coaching, mentoring, and implementation of the Health, Safety, and Environmental programs in the field.Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable regulations, standards, and company policies to ensure compliance.Ensure all incidents are reported immediately to the Safety Manager and/or Safety Director.Participate and assist the Supervisors, Foremen, and Safety Director in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions when necessary.Communicate safety trends and recommend safety corrective actions.Provide direction, support, and resources to Civil Construction Managers, Supervisors, and Foremen.Review safety obligations of the clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement, and communicated to the Project Managers, Supervisors, Foremen, and Crew Members.What You Bring to the TableKnowledge of safe work practices.Excellent investigation and analytical skills.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Ability to work safely in a variety of weather conditions.Ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.Ability to operate a computer/tablet/mobile device as necessary to perform job duties.Understand and follow all applicable safety regulations.Ability to travel and stay overnight as required; an average of two nights may be expected.Your Prior ExperienceRequired: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Required: 5 years of experience in civil construction.Desired: Occupational Health and Safety Degree, or Certified Safety Professional.Required: 5 years of experience in civil construction.Required: 3 years in safety and health field experience.Required: Valid Class C Driver’s License with clean driving record.Desired: OSHA 30Our Competitive PackagePay: $45.00 - $53.00 per hourThis pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting.
