Job Title: Director Global Trade Compliance Position Type: Permanent Location: Onsite – Greensboro, NC or Danville, VA Job Description: This is a leadership position responsible for the development, implementation, and management of procedures, policies, and activities associated with global trade. The Director of Global Trade Compliance is responsible for creating and administering import and export programs in a manner consistent with company policies, government regulations, and all applicable laws. Our client has a global import and export footprint, including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate the management of import and export functions in a manner sufficient to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies of government agencies. Act as an official designated representative to liaise with US Customs and Border Protection, the US Department of Commerce (Census), other US government agencies, and foreign agencies involved with import/export matters. Serve as key point of contact to communicate global trade matters to senior leadership and internal counsel. Develop and maintain programs to ensure global customs compliance, including service provider selection and management, database development, audit programs, and recordkeeping initiatives. Direct and oversee the global trade compliance department by providing strategic direction to trade department staff, ensuring personnel have resources and systems in place to properly execute responsibilities. Create and execute training content to effectively maintain the skill and knowledge level of personnel involved in import and export activities. Determine and maintain proper classifications, valuation, country of origin marking, and entry procedures on imported materials. Receive and coordinate responses to all government inquiries, notices, and audits. Lead the development and management of HTS classification databases, country of origin determination, ADD/CVD, and partner government agency matters. Develop and oversee brokerage and service provider RFP processes. Structure and oversee the use of special customs procedures, including duty drawback, temporary importation bonds, bonded warehouse activity, carnets, and foreign trade zones. Qualifications: BS/BA degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of trade compliance experience, including significant global experience. Licensed Customs Broker. Subject matter expert in HTS classification, valuation, and country of origin matters. Broad leadership and at least 5 years of people management experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including effective communication with cross-functional business partners and leaders. Knowledge of global trade management platforms and systems, including system implementation experience. Demonstrated background in brokerage and service provider review and selection. Action-oriented and customer-focused, with a drive to provide the highest quality service to internal and external partners.
