Job Title: Lab Technician I - Saraland (Immediate Hiring) Job Description The primary responsibility of the Lab Technician I is to perform routine medical laboratory tests that assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role typically operates under the supervision of a medical technologist. Responsibilities * Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment. * Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications using special mechanical and electrical devices. * Gather and record test data to issue reports with charts, graphs, and narratives. * Obtain specimens, cultivate, isolate, and identify microorganisms for analysis. * Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities. * Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found. * Receive and process samples, run testing kits, and handle maintenance and documentation quality control. Essential Skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. * Basic ability to work independently and manage time effectively. * Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases. * Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record findings. Additional Skills & Qualifications * High school diploma or GED required. * Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred. * 0-2 years of experience required. * Experience as a medical laboratory technician in a clinical laboratory, specifically in a core lab as a generalist. * Experience with Epic Beaker, ASCP, AMT, GMP, CLIA, blood bank, and microbiology. * ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Work Environment This role is based in a Mobile Infirmary Free Standing Emergency Department. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 1 PM to 9 PM, with the possibility of working one weekend per month or as needed. The lab processes approximately 500 samples per day, including hem, urinalysis, core testing, and molecular tests. The role requires collaboration with another technician. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saraland, Alabama. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.50/hr.
